Hey all. I am looking to purchase a used laptop to serve mostly presentation purposes. Needs to have a great screen (15" and up) and something over 1ghz for power. Hard drive should be over 20 gigs, and ram is a plus.
Mostly will be used for powerpoint presentations and some Photoshop work. Light is good too.
I could buy new, but would prefer a good used one, and I'm sure one of you geeks out there is ready to upgrade to whatever the latest and greatest is.
Let me know guys! E-mail is wes@tridentboats.com

got river?

If nobody comes through, check Dell. They have some refurbished laptops...don't know what prices are like...might even have a warranty.

Wes,
Check "Prostar laptops" on Ebay. Im playing on my new 15" 1.2 that I bought for $500. They are kinda of an unknown but thay make the Alienware machines or did! I am pretty picky and this is one sweet machine for the money.
Also I have my eye on a new 17" they just came out with Look here (http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=4794)
But you can find a nice machine for cheap on ebay!

Wes, I know you mentioned that you were looking to buy used but I have a suggestion. I recently found out that Costco has a 6-month return policy on computers - you can buy one cheap from them and whenever you go back there check and see if there's a newer, better one available. When it is you can return your computer no questions asked and then buy the new one for the difference in price (or get money back if it's cheaper).
Last time I was there they had a Compaq notebook that had 2.66GHz clock speed, 60GB hard drive, 1 GIG of RAM! etc. and it was about $1600. That's a lot of computer for the money and with the return policy you can take it back for any reason at all. In fact, that policy encourages you to take it back before the 6-months is up just to buy another and start the clock rolling again. It's a great way to keep from buying/having outdated technology.
I dig Costco
