Got one yesterday. Not too shabby. They way it was described on radio made me think it was gonna look like the crap money in some third world countries. I have added it to my collection of mint condition $20 bills. I have one each of the last three generations of 20's. May be worth something....someday.

You guys are going in the right direction. In about 20 years when you have much more color in your paper bills, they will be almost as nice as our Canadian currency! :)

Buys free healthcare?
Ours will have a picture of the Queen or some dead French guy?

About the New Notes
The United States government is issuing currency with new designs and security features beginning with the $20 note on October 9, 2003.
The redesigned currency is safer, smarter and more secure: Safer because it is harder to fake and easier to check; Smarter to stay ahead of tech-savvy counterfeiters; and More Secure to protect the integrity of U.S. currency.
The most noticeable difference in the new design is the subtle introduction of background color, which makes it more burdensome for potential counterfeiters because it adds complexity to the note. The color will also make it easier to distinguish between denominations because different background colors will be used for each denomination.
However, despite the addition of color, the new note preserves the distinct size, look and feel of the traditional American “greenback” – the world’s most familiar and circulated currency.
The Federal Reserve System and the Department of the Treasury are committed to continuous improvements in currency design in order to protect the economy and your hard-earned money. To ensure this, we expect to introduce new currency designs every 7-10 years.
The issuance of the new $20 note will be followed by a new $50 note in 2004 and a new $100 note in 2005. Decisions on new designs for the $5 and $10 notes are still under consideration, but a redesign of the $2 and $1 notes is not planned.

J/K Well, in 20 years actually, I would be surprised if our looney was worth more than .50 USD, but I guess most of us will see, eventually...
But check those colors!
Until Oct. 9th, our 10 cent piece had more color than your paper money. Of course color is just one attribute that helps to stop counterfeiting, but it's nice to see the US finally adopting recognized methods in this area....

Real works of art, easily distinguished.
Gotta love those Looneys and Tooneys too!

That's the thing. The biggest issue for the first-time Canadian travelling to the USA is the currency. I'm sure we've dropped a 20 for a cup of coffee and said 'keep the change' more than once...
Oh well, what can you do...
That new US $20 is nice. Nice to see that multiple new methods of security have been implemented as well.

J/K LOL
I haven't gotten one yet but I'm sure I'll see a new $20 soon. :)
