This might be a dumb one but is the Spectre boats of today the same or related to the Spectre boats of the 70's.

Spectre Powerboats of today are not related to what I believe that you are refering to as Spectra. Spectre Powerboats are built in Clearwater Florida and build only 30' and 36' cats. You mentioned that your friend just picked up a 30' with twin outboards. What year, how much did he pay, where did he buy it from and where will he be using it. They are awesome boats and will out perform any other 30' cat. Depending on his set up, he should run in the low 100's all day with 300's.

Tom Slick,
LUVNLIFE asked the question.
This might be a dumb one but is the Spectre boats of today the same or related to the Spectre boats of the 70's. T-slick,
I was hoping some east coast big boy's would chip in with some smack, I guess their all on OSO?
It's a 1999 or 2000 Hull
cost 80K a steal from Dave @ DCB. :D
Boat will be used mostly in Havasu and will do Poker runs.
Currently the cock pit/helmet intercom and stereo system is being installed.
I think the boat ran 109 at Lake X
Boat is all white and will soon sport new graphics

Sounds like there will be several outboard powered Spectre 30' out at Havasu this summer, as there are already three of them that I am aware of. That will be cool, sounds like your friend got a sweet ride. Just curious, what kind of graphics is he going with, paint or vinyl and who is doing the work?

SOOO...You want SMACK!?!?!...Jay Pillini is the owner of SPECTRE boats in FLORIDA...He makes a 30' & 36' cat boat that is probably as good or better than the SKATER...It is TRUE that with twin 300's the 30' WILL do better than 100mph...His boats are VERY reasonably priced for content & build quality...It is a TRUE catamaran bottomed boat...It is a PROVEN REAL offshore (race) contender & has numerous victories to it's credit...BTW...There is an article in HOT BOAT about one this month...It got good press...It MAY be a LITTLE too much boat for you left-coasters to handle tho...hahahaha...JK.......
