My Escalade is being "Lemon Lawed" and I am thinking about what to do next - so I thought I would get a little Forum input. Well?

Trucks aside, that is a tough choice...I only like the H2's lifted, but if I had either I would want it to be a smooth ride...I just have a thing for the Escalade's on 22 DUB's...I know there alot around, but they still look trick...and they have a nice engine in the AWD model...

I agree with the ride. Before the Escalade I had the Super Duty and that was a nightmare - Milk in Baumont and butter by Cabazon.
I drove an H2 last night with 20's that looked pretty sick which is what made me start wondering. The ride wasn't much off of the Escalade but the Escalade is a little plusher.

if the choice is only between these two, then i would have to say escalade hands down. especially if you're concerned about a good ride... the H2 is just a suburban with a different body on it.
i'm guessing you're gonna tow a boat with this... you might also want to consider something in a diesel... i saw a 2 wheel drive excursion the other day riding on 24's that was completely blacked out (including bumpers, all trim, all windows, all badging, everything) and it looked sick as hell. it kinda looked like a big escalade...
p.s. make sure you get 24's for it because only "budget ballers" roll on 22's these days

I'm in the process of getting mine lemoned and our buddy has a 6.0 that's given him a lot of trouble too! From what I've read on-line the '04's aren't worked out yet either... they need more time to work out the kinks! frown

My buddy just got a 3/4 ton Yukon XL with the 4 wheel steering.
Sounds like a gimmick, but it's not. It's really great. Makes maneuvering that beast around a piece of cake, also, makes towing and backing a trailer much more accurate.
I'd do it. If you need the plush, maybe go w/ the Denali version. Whatever floats your boat.

I'd go for the Escalade, there is no rooom in the H2's and every soccer mom in town drives one.

What about a Navigator? Imo... Those thing's look sick with a set of 20" or 22" wheels. But I'm partial to them because I'm Ford Guy. :D

It does drive nice, like my dad's new Lincoln TownCar with my F350's height and power.

You guys are great help.....now I'm totally f-ed up. I am going to go look at the Denali and see what all of the fuss is about. The Nav I didn't care for even though heretofore (I am not a lawyer) I was a Ford guy.

Hey Tony if it's any consolation, I thought you pretty f-ed up the first time we met. :D wink Now I don't know what happened with your Escalade, and a Denali is the nicest suv chevy makes but it still is an Escalade. Just like the top of the line Expedition still isn't a Navigator. Just my .02

There is not a 15K diff between the Escalade and Denali...I think it is more like 6K....53.4K to 59K with the same AWD and options...

F....All of that. By a Burb or a Yukon Xl with the big block.... Drop a Whipple super charger on it....and some FAT Tires, (you'll Need em cuz the thing will Light em off like a drag car). Then look for a H2 or Escalade and launch from the line....they'll look like S@@t in the rear view mirror covered in smoke. GRIN

Tough Choice-
Escalades are bad ass- definately roll on 23's! Best all around size right now IMO- everyone has 20's and 22's, and 24's are really big and really expensive.
H2- If you get an H2- one of the H2's last weekend at Havasu (white and towing the blue 36 Cigarette Gladiator) was bad ass. It had some 18's with 35' tires. Definately really trick. But you can always one up him- roll 20's on some 36" tires.
Either way- you can't go wrong.
Roln 20s (but wish I was rollin bigger :D )

Here's one my brother took pictures of at the Severed Ties Octoberfest carshow, it was rolling on some big rims. I like the massive ground clearance that the tow hitch receiver has.

I just p/u a avalanche with 6"lift by Robby Gordon offroad. I cannot believe how this thing rides. I have ridden in a lot of lifted trucks, with some Hi digit $$$ lift kits on them, and it is nothing compared to this.

I have decided against the H2. Too much of a toy to be an everyday driver (45K/Yr). I am probably going back to the Escalade - thanks for all of the input.

I have decided against the H2. Thank God for that Lakeshow, those H2 things are freakin' hideous. A fad at best. Amazing how people get sucked into the "next best thing". Overpriced, overblown and over before you know it. As someone mentioned, it's a Suburban.
The original ones are OK if you like Army vehicles....but why would you buy one without a war to go to?
Stick with the tried and true, be comfortable and happy.

I have ridden in a lot of lifted trucks, with some Hi digit $$$ lift kits on them, and it is nothing compared to this. I've got a Dark Gray Metallic 2003 Avalanche 2500 4x4 with 8.1L/496c.i. big block, 4.10 gears, rear locker, all options (except DVD, SatRadio & Roof Rack). It rides like a Suburban (built on the Suburban chassis - no pickup truck ride here).
It's got an RCD 6" suspension lift with Bilstein shocks, BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 315/75-R16 (35") tires, Eagle Alloys (118s), Wrangler dual battery kit with Optima Red Top, Flowmaster exhaust, Line Of Fire, WAAG side tubes, 35" spare underneath, 10,000 pound receiver (Ekhart hitch), front tinted windows, waving flag bowtie, in-bed 12v power outlet, MagLite saddlebag mount, amber DRLs, SilverStars, Valentine 1 hardwired in, and more.
The H2 doesn't have nearly enough usable room inside and it can't carry anything more than groceries. That's just not right for a vehicle that size. Pluse it's about $17,000 more than my loaded Avalanche and my Av has a much nicer interior than the all-plastic everywhere H2 interior.

I drove the 1500 today - just out of curiosity what kind of mpg to you get with?

I have the K2500 Suburban with the 8.1L 373 rear end, autoride LS edition. I pulled my 9500 pound boat up to Lake Tahoe on Hwy 50 and was passing people. Gas mileage is not the greatest, about 11 to 13 around town and 15 on the hiway, less towing. But it is the best engine (gas) for towing on the market bar none other than a diesel.

I drove the 1500 today - just out of curiosity what kind of mpg to you get with? If you're asking me about my mileage, you don't want to know.
The 2500 Avalanche may be the heaviest "standard" vehicle on the road today. Mine is about 7000 pounds with me and a cooler in it :D
My 2500 has the 8.1L big-block, 4.10 gears and it's lifted with 35" tires. You know the saying, if you have to ask...
My MPG is under 10 I'm sure. Just don't know how much (my speedo & odometers are off due to the 35" tires so I don't even bother checking mileage since it'd be off too).
The 1500 Z66 (2WD) will get up to 17-18MPG depending on how you drive. The Z71 (4x4) will probably get about 15MPG.
