Just thought I would share the good info. Was looking to insure my new boat and I think I got a great deal from State Farm. Just over $700/year w/ really great coverage. They can't do the REALLY high performance stuff but mine has a 496 HO in it. Any better deals out there I should know about??

Coverage is 100K BI, cost of boat is 64K, med pay 5K per person, personal prop 1K, and $500 for towing on water or road. Pretty good right?

Is it a cat or V? Doesn't it make a difference?

I pay just under $500 for a 23' with 454. I had a $5,000 claim for theft of stereo, guages, etc. and they paid only seeing the receipts.

I'm at 600$/year for 22 ft. 454 through west marine - they treated me great and they've been my insurer for 3 years.

I'm soo jealous of those rates, I could only get insurance with one company and their charging me $3,600/yr for ok coverage.
no accidents, claims, tickets...nothing. Its almost the most expensive part of boating!!

We pay just over $500 for a 21' DiMarco with a 427 but we also have a Million dollar liability. You never know what is going to happen at the river.

I have Progressive nsurance for my 25' with a 496HO. Cost is 580 yearly. State Farm and others were about 300-400 more yearly. Hopefully Progressive will pay a claim if I ever have one. There AM Best Rating is not as high as State Farm.

It's got a Teague 800. State Farm, Allstate and Farmers wouldn't touch it. I really have to do something....

Call Bob Luellen at Worldwide Marine 800/339-1235.
He found insurance for my Carlson Vcat raceboat. Expensive at more than $2200/year, but he was the only one who could help me.

I don't know how you are doing it. State Farm would not touch mine with a 10 foot pole. She actually showed me "confidential" pictures of boats they would not insure.
My boat is faster than 70mph so Progressive would not do it either.

I just purchased a 1999 ESSEX Sterling 21  with 300hp 350MAG BravoIII.
I recently shopped Progressive, AAA, and U.S.Boat. Boat Value 35K, Liability 100K/300K, $250 Ded Comprehensive, $500 Collision, $1500 Trailer coverage, $250 Equipment coverage,...etc
AAA $649 :o
Progressive $589 eek!
U.S. Boat $489 :)
I have been a member of U.S Boat to get towing coverage for $14 per year.

Today at the boatshow (and at the L.A. boat show) I spoke with Mike Garner from Westmar Marine Insurance. He said they have a new program that will insure any cat or other high performance boats with reasonable rates.
You might give him a call if you have a boat that is hard to insure or are paying too much. Tell him Craig from Extreme Boats America sent you, he'll give anybody a great deal with that reference.
Personally, I carry my 95 Hallett 21' w/454 mag thru State Farm, $630 yearly on full replacement value, full value trailer replacement, under a million dollar liability policy (only $220 more per year to wrap my home, autos and boat, well worth the money).
Hope it helps!
