Its a clean looking boat and if the lake I live does not let the V-Drive on then something like this might be an option "The Dark Side"

No, but really they have a 20' limit and 170hp but if it is a approved ski boat and on the List of approved boat for are lake than its OK. So I had the paper work fudged to say it is a 1985 ski eliminator which is on the list. But some people dont agree at inspection office. It is a private lake, that I pay $500 to in dues

No, but really they have a 20' limit and 170hp I hate to break it to you, but the above boat with 170 hp is going to be a slug. You need more like 280 hp or 300 hp to make it run. eek!

If I didn't know better I'd say that's dave hollans boat! but I think he's got a mach 22 and I don't think he's got purple going. And by the way havasu dreaming, 170 will do a good 75-80 depending on conditions and if you know how to make it dance. If you get that thing dancing you might MIGHT be able to pull 83 or so. But not too many know how to make a tunnel dance so he may want to go up to 200 minimum.

The only way a 21 Eliminator Daytona w/170 hp motor is going 75, would be still on the trailer and being towed.
I'm hoping for a good punchline about dancing though... :D

my tunnel can do 74 on GPS with a 79 175 merc outboard. I had a bit of trouble believing it too and borrowed a few other GPS toys and got the same result.

Is your tunnel a 21ft Daytona Eliminator?

Phat_Kat
04-02-2003, 09:23 PM
nope sleekcraft SST(THE ORIGIONAL) but I've done similar stunts that ran about the same (75-77) on a 21 eliminator with a little bit fresher 175 merc

Nice, I've been considering getting a newer one so I can preserve the 1980 I have. You gotta admit that's one of the best designs in history. If only sleek could make a lighter boat that thing would still be rocking on the water. Oh barney if you wanna know how to make her dance I'll tell you. PM me cause the faster way is something I like teasing people with cause then I always win the race :D :p . My old man can do it in 4 seconds and it takes me about 7 but hey what's 3 seconds.

Tom Brown
04-02-2003, 09:57 PM
With the right decoys, I can do it in 15 seconds. :)
That's a sweeeeet looking boat, Barn. :)

Barney,
That is a tight Sleekcraft...Did you re-gel it? If so, I like the way you kept the classic lines.
RD, do you really want to know how this dude is going to do it in 7 seconds?? :D :)

Tom Brown

Barn, what kind of cables are those to the right of the splash well? Are those steering cables? One looks like a steering ram but the other is curved.
I'd like to know more about those hull fittings that let those cables out. Do you know where I could get some? Rex?

HavasuBarney
04-02-2003, 10:19 PM
Tom, those are hydraulic steering hoses with little clams shells holding them.
mbrown, That's the original gel although I capped the seam and have done a little repair work. It's an incredible gel though. Every seperate color is a blend, it's beautiful in person.

Hey barney here's mine. Everything is origional except the interior. Switched it to black a while ago cause the yellow didn't set well.

yeah it's real nice. My dad's the origional owner and it's still in his name. We're just too lazy to do any paperwork :p . But hey free insurance can't beat that can ya?? that's my dad in the background there. My dad's proud of how good it looks and I'm really more proud of the boat's history and the fact that it was the 3rd one off the line.

The only way a 21 Eliminator Daytona w/170 hp motor is going 75, would be still on the trailer and being towed.I agree. I have messed with my 19' Daytona enough to know that 170hp isn't going to push my 19' 75mph much less a 21'. Just not going to happen unless it was a stripped out, light lay-up race hull.
Barney.........that is a beautiful SST.......it needs a 280 offshore on it real bad....

superV,
From the looks of where you're from I'd tell the people charging you that money to get screwed. You and I both know LOTO is the place to be in your area anyway. Buy an Offshore Boat and go enjoy the weekend.
