i think it is rated for up to 8000 lbs. I had it specially made.. It is one thick heavy bitch.
I live in red-neck country, so just about any shop here knows how to make heavy duty shit for BIG TRUCKS.

YUP YUP...SURE IS A DIESEL, WOULDNT HAVE BOUGHT A FORD IF IT WASNT FOR THAT. IM A TRAITOR! I WAS ALL CHEVY BEFORE JUST GOT TIRED OF 8 MPG UNLOADED AND NOT TOWING. AND WASNT ABOUT TO TRUST GM WITH THEIR NEW DURAMAX, SEEING AS HOW I GOT STIFFED ON A BRAND NEW 98 ONCE. SO HERE I AM WITH A FORD. NEVERTHELESS THE POWERSTROKE DIESEL WAS PROBABLY THE BEST DECISION IVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. DOH! I TAKE THAT BACK, EXCEPT FOR LEAVING MY NOW BITC* EX-WIFE   burningm devil !! ANYWAYS...I GET AROUND 12-13 MPG ON THE 38'S AND WILL REGEAR SOON SO I EXPECT THAT NUMBER TO GO UP A TAD....LATER....ROB

RIVERDAVE,
I THINK ME AND WILDLAVEY HAVE THE SAME TIRES. THEY ARE 10 PLY. IVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MINE. IM SURE THEY CAN HANDLE THE LOAD A BOAT AND TRAILER(THE TYPE WE HERE ON THE BOARD LIKE)NOT SURE BOUT A YACHT! A BLOW OUT WOULD SUCK THO.!
QUALITYTIME,
IN THAT CASE, FABTECH, WILL DO. POPULAR BRAND FOR IFS. ALL IFS'S ARE JUST A BUNCH OF SPACERS. THE RIDE IS DETERMINED BY YOUR TORSIONS.

Just a note on the BIG Tire Deal and blow outs. I was Running a 1992 Chev. Suburb. With a Six Inch lift and 35" Super Swampers. Had about 4000 mile on them Towen the boat down Hwy 70 @ 70mhp when three tires Blew at once eek! with a 23' Wellcraft Nova on the back.Traffic on Both sides of me in a Two lane part of the road on 4 july weekend. jawdrop Anyway talk about Puckering up I just about shit my paints  I was able to get it under control and Pull off the road and everyone was safe even had the Mother In Law with us :( . When I ask The place I bought them from about what had happen they said i must have change the tire from white wall out to white wall in and would not cover them due to that and the fact that i was using them to tow, and they were not rated for that. burningm So just my .02 dont ever chenge the direction on Big tires or else...

IVE HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING WHEN RUNNING WIDER RIMS THAN YOU SHOULD FOR THAT TIRE. ONE BLOWS AND TO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE BEAD OF THE NEXT RIM WITH THE HIGHEST PRESSURE THEN THAT ONE BLOWS AND SO ON AND SO ON...ROB

Thanks Reaper, I'll give them a call. I'm familiar with 4-WPW, any comments on Outlaw Offroad here in Lake Forest? Don't really know anything about Outlaw, but I guess I should since they are about five minutes away from my house. I'll have to check it out. Good luck with the lifting and post some pics when its done. :)

Are those big tires rated for that kind of load?
Not to be a safety nazi or anything, I was just wondering if any of you guys worry about a tire coming apart at speed?
RD
I run 38x15.5's, I have towed from New Mexico to Havasu a few times and to Austin once... All during high temperatures.. Now Im not the Brightest tool but I generally run 80+ towing my rig and have never had a problem.

I don't think anyone would of even considered that till you mentioned it. Most would have been thinking you wanted to know if they could handle the load while cruising 126 MPH (on GPS) while finishing the last cold one out of your 12 pack!!! :D :D :D

Xlgpp That truck is incredible. I have had two slammed duallies and was thinking of building the same truck you have with the diesel. I have a 32 witha triple axle trailer the rig weighs 9200lbs you think I could do that ?????? How is the side to side stability? The lowriders usually cost between 8-11k by the time i did everything what should I expect to spend to raise one? How high is your roof? (garage clearence

Just make sure you lift it with the Edge by Donahoe Enterprises. It's the shit!

Super, gald that no one was hurt or any property damaged, but reversing the tire on the rim will no effect on how the tire reacts on pavement. I think they were feeding you a bunch of BS. Off road tires are directionally designed with the lugs to be able to grab a shit load of mud and sling it back, cleaning the tire for another bite on its next revolution. The thing about big tires that some people don't understand is that the outside edge, the tread, is travelling at a higher mph rate than it would on a smaller diameter tire. A smaller tire will make more revs per mile, but at a slower speed on the tread. Take the weight of an offroad/ aggressive tire and spin that tread mass at the mph per rpm (revs per mile in this case) coupled with the added weight of towing and heat build up etc, you have the proper setup for rubber failure.
Heres an analogy...back when we had record players, you could put the speed at 78 rpm and your finger could easily stay on any spot on the label. Now try to do that with the outside edge of the record. You hand has to move that much faster to cover more of a distance per rpm.
