I am thinking of take my Bow Rail off and using these to fill the holes with. http://www.rexmar.com/images/page31.jpg
Has anyone seen or used these and what did they think. My other qu. is how do you guys think these will look? I will have to put 5 eek! down each side due top there being 5 holes from the rail  I think it might look like the guy with the shower rails and roll bar on his boat we all made fun. :D
BTW the Boat is a 1981 Eliminator Hi-Po V-Drive Day Crusier

I was just thinking about that guys boat with all the rails on his boat... messed up! Instead of the cleats, you might look at replacing your bow rails with some low profile bow rails powder coated white or whatever, that would look trick and updated. What kind of boat are you looking to do this to, I'm not sure what the expense would be for new custom rails... Just a thought...

Yah, you don't want to clutter up a clean line with too much hardware. 5 is a lot. Newer boats seem to have fewer and fewer every year.
But I did kinda like that rollbar :D ...you could mount a lot of speakers on one...
Could you make some other sort of plug to cover the extra holes? Something that would be less obtrusive? Maybe RD could mill up something....I heard he can do that... wink

RiverDave:
Well you could "mill" something, but if it's round I'd rather "turn" it. wink

If it were me, I would put a lower profile rail on it instead of the mushroom cleats. I think 5 of them up and down each side is about 4 too many. Good Luck.

I put two on last season, need to put two more where the rear cleats are. They work pretty good and you dont get your toes snagged. wink

I had my rail off and the holes pluged and repainted. After looking at the boat it just didn't look right. The 20 foot boat looked shorter. my rail goes from nothing to 10 inches high at the bow, makes the boat look racier. I think

I too have the rail and have thought about removal. Then filling the holes, but can't decide which would look better? Mine is a double tear cruiser, plus I would hate to drill new holes for cleats or pop-ups which looked pretty cool btw. However it does seem like the rail is more in the way, then helpful. Any more thoughts on this subject would be appreciated.

You just got that boat. Don't change anything for the first year. Just drive it and by the end of the season you will have changed your mind 100 times on what you want to do.
Then you will be ready to start turning it into YOUR boat.

I have the rail on my Spectra 20 and it does get in the way alot and you can't really sit out on the bow when floating. I will probably take it off but I jus don't really know how to fill in the holes in the non-skid that goes around the boat without it looking mismatched.

You can get the "pop-ups" and they will be flush and not look so cluttered.. can also have them powder coated to match and never notice they are there (until you need them, then they are real handy)
