I intend on purchasing aWrangler in the near future. I will use it in town and for small boat launching. Planning on spending about $6K, so a 1992 or 93, 4.0, a/t. You Jeep guys, any thoughts?

I got a '92 wrangler w/ 32" on it and have had it since '93. Great ride, but it's a 4 banger not 6. I never see 5th gear but it's a great summer truck. Easy to maintain too. Trying to sell it for around 6K. I don't think you can tow much w/ it though. Good luck and if you need more help just ask.

I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler to run around town and pull my Howard 22 Offshore out of the water. It is the 4 cylinder engine with a 5 speed. It is great car to run around town and go for short rides.

Oh yes I was told the the year 93-95 is better for pulling the boats up the ramps becuase you can turn the wheels in low range and it will not jump.

sounds like a decent deal, but what size tires and lift? Mine above is not re-geared so I never drive in 5th gear, but 4th is just fine. Plus if it has a hardtop it's alot more useful in the winter. I've had mine for 10 years and it's not the best driving in the rain w/ a soft top...loud and cold.
Just my 2 cents... :p

I have had flatfenders, CJ5's and CJ7's and the Wrangler. For off road worthiness I would get the older ones. If you are on the road most of the time go for the Wrangler. It has a wider wheelbase and is a little more stable than the others. If you know how to drive a narrow wheelbase vehicle then there really isn't much difference but if you have to quickly avoid some other knucklehead then the Wrangler is best for stability. The body tub is the same for wranglers and CJ7 just the axles are wider. Just my .02.

as for off roadin perposes go I prefer the four link coilspring setup over old timers leafsring got both types sittin in the drive rite now The leaf spring setup is Cheaper to lift but I prefer the added articulation that comes with the 4 link system :o
