2001 Dodge 1 ton dually,w cummins, injection system has been remapped and turbo upgraded and remapped & k/n air filter. it will pull a 6800lb. travel trailer 85mph in o/d with no problems. really strong machine. remapping both systems made all the diference.
don't really keep up with fuel mileage, but can tell it improved with the changes made.
u can forget the sanger f/b is behind it !

I've been thinking about ordering a Dodge Dakota crew cab 4x4 with the 5.9 motor to tow my 21' boat. I don't tow very far, and this truck will fit in the garage, the RAM is just too big even though it's a great looking truck. What do you guys think, I'm towing well under the max towing weight... Let me know what you think. Also, is the 4.7 a better more updated motor than the push rod 5.9?? Any info appreciated...

Got one of those 2002 Dodge Quad-cab 4x4. Black SLT+ models with the 5.9 in it. Not excessive power (wish it had a V10). It does use excessive gas tho. Not much better than my 96 V10, but lot less power.

Do you like it? Would you get the SLT or Sport package if you did it again? I would get the RAM, but it won't fit in the garage, and I like the size of the Dakota. I hear the new 4.7 is putting out more HP thanthe 5.9 push rod motor, I need to get some more specs on that...

Hermosa,
I basically like truck. It looks good too. Just don't like hearing the Chevy is getting better mileage and can pull xxxxxx lbs. I think they renamed the SLT+ to Loredo for the 2003. My truck has the the painted grill and forms a plus on the center of the grill with the mesh inserts unllike the sport or the slt. Haven't driven the 2003 hemi but hear it is impressive. I would rather have the 3/4 ton but that didn't come till the 2003 model year.

I still think a black 4x4 crew cab Dakota looks really mean, they are different. The Chevy is just too different looking, don't like the 2003 body style. The GMC looks ok, but having the 4 doors is nice, I don't want the swingout doors, I want door handles on all doors, in a smaller package.
