How many of you still have push button starting? [Archive]

We took ours out when we first go the boat since it wasnt working right, and just replaced the button with a LED to let you know the fuel pump is on. How many still use it?

D, When we re-wired the Lavey we changed over but as a minute Idea we used the button as a safety. We did hide it but if you don't push it you don't start it....:cool:v-drive

I use a head light dimmer switch mounted down at the pedals works great leaves your hands free.:p

That reminds me of an old truck I once had. Had the floor mounted starter pedal.

Fuel toggle, ignition toggle, push button start, key hidden under the dash to give it all juice, and a kill switch.

Pull switch for Ign and bilge pump, with a starter button, and a kill lanyard. Of course that boat is sold as of this weekend when I deliver it. My new boat will have a key. Too many functions to have individual toggles on an outboard.

Starter is toggle momontary on, Plate is toggle momontary on both ways up/down, bilge pump is toggle On/Off?on. all others are switchs

One more thing, If you run a magneto, there is an advantage to crank the motor without the ignition. It gets it spinning faster and hense more spark for take off!:)
