I'm trying to get the bowl off my berk JG pump .I removed the bolts but it won't come off,is it just stuck or what? I was reading about impellers being matched to HP at RPM's and was trying to see if it is really a B imp. I've never taken apart a split bowl type before any (well almost any) input would be appreciated Thanks.

Try using a phenolic hammer side to side up and down. Lighter then harder. Don't jamb anything into the seal surface. (Screwdriver etc.) With some persistent tappin it should break the seal. Probably lotsa sillycone.

It's stuck good.I removed 8 bolts and have tried the dead blow mallett thingie. It has'nt moved.Should there be oil leaking when it comes off? just want to know if drain pan necessary?

Try running the bolts all the way in and then back them all out about 1 1/2 turns. Then use your rubber mallet to rap the bolt heads. Don't beat the snot out of them as you may damage the internal threads in the aluminum. That and some more raps around the bowl should do it.
And yes, there should be some 90wt. pouring out of there.

Did you loosen the bowl bolts or the split bowl bolts where the steering end is?What size bolts did you take out?

it came off Just 1 tap on bolt popped it loose. The guy who sold me this boat said it was a B imp.It has a big A on the imp next to the nut, but it looks like it was changed.

No the seal must be bad. The shaft looks a little rough too. hope it polishes up.

It probably was an A. Measure the diameter at the blades (top/bottom) to get the actual measurement and then compare to a impeller/cut chart.;)

Yup, that's what I was thinking too. Coulda been cut down from an A.

Using the image below, take the measurement of the blade diameter on the small end towards the end of the shaft and compare it to the chart. Be sure to measure the diameter of the blades, not the small side of the hub on the impeller.

Hope that helps,
