Well I went to visit my dad up in Fresno and decided to check out the Kings River. Well, that was a bad idea. You could walk across it.

After the locals at Kings stopped laughing, they told us to check out Lake Millerton. Let me tell you, that is one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever been on. Here we are leaving the dock. Notice the hefty Drake Rooster

So we pulled over to have a couple cold ones and take a break. I took a few pictures of the sled too. The velocity stack is in tribute to my hero, Jordan Paulk

I got the uneasy feeling that we weren't alone. Well I guess we weren't. Those are bear tracks. The last picture is a deer track.

Just wanted to thank everyone that helped me get on the water this season. Thanks to Jordy for selling me the boat, Todd Griggs for cleaning up the paint, Randy and Dave at DNE for hooking me up with a motor. Thanks guys!

Dude, you should come the rest of the way up to Sac and check out Folsom. I'll post some pics tomorrow from when I go to the lake. It is about 3 or 4 times as large as Millerton.

So I stand corrected. Nice looking boat. What's up with the K&N breather in the left valve cover? Didn't have enough running through it with the big tall bad ass Offy breathers?
Now you just need the purple carpet and cheetah or leopard interior... pimpin' ain't easy. Looks good though. :D

Only problem is it has 10x more chop. The last couple of times I was at Folsom was terrible. It used to be my favorite lake years ago but it's not worth the drive up there anymore....on the weekends anyway.

BTW, you can see a few pictures of Folsom here Banderlog's Gatherings and Get Togethers (http://www.banderlog.com/cgi-bin/banderlog/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID38&conf=DCConfID1)
You will also find a bunch of pics from Berryessa, New Hogan and a couple of others.

true dat, it's close to the house, but i dread the weekends....
cruising up the north fork or south fork when the water is up is a nice ride.

Yeah, good point. I guess I don't notice it as much because it is 2 miles from the driveway. Its not as rough as Mead or Havasu on most days... much as I love those lakes.

Justin,
Did you happen to check out the camping facilities? Or maybe the motel situation around Millerton?
Flat Broke and I have been talking a bit about having a NorCal/SoCal Get Together and figured somewhere in the Fresno area would be good for all.
Know anything about Shaver Lake?

Personally I would recommend Don Pedro or McClure they are nice big lakes with good qualities.
Camping at Pedro is excellent and the lake and resort facilities are good. No Motels though on the lake, but plenty in Merced.
There are a bunch of motels in Fresno though...so Millerton is close to lots of facilities. Also, how about Nacimiento? Don Pedro and Nacimiento were two lakes where I used to meet up with friends from So. Cal.
Shaver lake is nice but not real big and quite a haul up the hill to get to it.

I'd agree about Don Pedro, never been to McClure though. We were just trying to pick something with close to an equal driving time. If I had my drothers, I'd like to see some of the SoCal peeps join us at Tower Park in Aug, it's a total blast.
I've heard Naci is hit and miss as far as water conditions go, gets pretty windy thus choppy?
I donno, be kind of fun meeting up with some of the southern contingent :)
Good shizzle huh? :)
