I took truck (POS Chevy) to find out why it was only running on 7 cylinders. I thought it was a plug. It actually needed a valve job. The guy changed all the fluids, new plugs and wires, entire valve job..,new o2 censor, air filter, He harged me $740. Is that a good deal?

Did you actually see the motor parts that failed ? A good mechanic will show you the old parts and the damage done , Your truck may have been a PIA and "time is $$$$" You spent alot , I hope on work not BS ...... Moo

My truck has 454 in it. It is an 89 Chevy dually. He did put parts in the bed of the truck. He thought that the valve might have ruined one of the pistons but it turned out to be OK. I haven't actually picked it up yet. I'm gettinng it tomorrow. I really don't thinkhe would rip me off.

If you'd had that work done at the Dealer I bet it'd have been $2K easily. If he did all he told you he did, I don't think it was a bad deal at all.
