Like I keep saying Im new at this v-drive thing but I puzzeled about how you can tell what the degree "say 10 or 12 degree" your casal v-drive unit is and what degree is needed for differant applications, It seems tha hydros use a shorter driveline than a flat, both being the same in length , lets say 18 ft boats, will they run the same degree angle v-drive unit. Im lost at this. Help???

A long time ago the strut angles were steep(10-12 degree) that's why the 12 degree box. When they realized that a shalower strut angle works better(8-7 degree) they made the 10 degree box to keep the driveline angle lower!..:)

There should be #s on the cases, What are they.....Also you can pull the gears, which should be done anyways and they should be stamped also....Rich.....When are you going to have it at GT Boats, I'm sure they can tell you also....:D
