Hey guys Does anyone know anything about the 427 BBC "tallblock" I'm building a 1973 21' Tahiti " Toad " Would it be a good motor to buy and build? And will a 454 bellhousing fit?

this boat is powered by a tall block 427 (out of a old work truck). It is up high on the compression and turns to 7500 rpm runs 9.50s at 109-112.You will need spacer plates for the intake mainifold if you plan on using regular block intakes(which you will mostly find) And some msd distributors have a slip collar which allows you to use on either block

I have heard the 427 Tallblock is one of the best engines to use for my application and since I can get a running one here for $300.00 I think I know my answer. Also isn't the 427Tallblock a 4 bolt main, It is beefier and originaly out of a truck.
Here is the catch I'm a Ford man I just want to have a good engine even Ford fans like the 427bbc.

Keep it!
Chevrolet labeled it the "Mystery Motor" check it out.
They don't why, Mathmatics, Physics, or anything else could describe why that combo works.
1967 Vette - 488 BHP on dyno with Hooker Headers
Now thats a base to work from.
New School - More cubic inches = Bullshit just my thoughts!!

get the casting numbers for us before you buy it. Has it been bored yet? My .060 over tall deck got real thin. I had it sonic checked and ended up replacing it.Something to think about.

I F*&K#D up again that is a short block.
It ran good last year but lots of blow-by/crankcase presure.
It is just stitting and starting to rust.
Someone needs that BBF for something.
It has atleast 486,000 miles on it that I know of it ran good for ten years for me. I hate to see it just sitting.

The HEARTBEAT Has Just Stopped
When I was a young guy and did not know better I had alot of GM stuff, Now that I know better, well the FORD stuff just kicks but. For example my wife does the carb work and on the AFB carbs there are small cap screws that hold the metering rods. Well I think she over tightend one and the head broke off and the piston spring and the metering rod went into and through the engine Hakpooyyy in and out No problem !!! Cool beans !!!
