I'll play ...
Most should remember the story I posted recently. Anyhow, trying to restore a '71 Cyclone, go to grad school full time, work full time, and be with the family ... too many irons in the fire!:)
New gel on the bottom

It's stripped down awaiting the resto now. Roger sure made some pretty boats!

Todd,
Yeah, Mike's old boat is really nice ... I have a several pics of it saved for "reference".
John,
Agreed, the "barrel-back" transoms and gunnels without the "notch" on the bubbledecks define optimum design for me :)
Just wish I had one (and not even done with the cyclone yet !?!?!
Blown,
Your ride is looking nice, do you actually have an FE in it?

Blown,
I have always liked those engines. I have a 66 Fairlane GTA ... before I cut it up to make a race car out of it (still not done) I ended up with a tri-power intake .... just the intake, no carbs, linkages, or anything else. Never got the chance to use it though. My dad used to race those alot (both roundy-round and drag), unfortunately all of his old parts are gone 'cept for an old mallory dual-point with the cap that does not use boots, just a spike that goes into the end of the wire (kinda weird) but I have always kept it for some reason.

Wow! -- What started out as planned 2 yr project has drawn out waaay too long (check out that HB.com join date). So long; that all of my old pictures are gone 'cause the project has followed us through three different states and three different ISPs.
Anyhow, I am in SoCal now at Edwards AFB and have a good solid weekend's worth of work before the boat finally gets wet.
A video of the fresh engine can be found at:

Heatseeker,
It is amazing how the Nordic and the Rogers look very close. Even the gel-coat scheme. Did they build these boats in adjacent shops ? Did Rogers work at Nordic or vice versa.
Very nice Rogers by the way.

TJS, you're right, the gel scheme is pretty close looking. I don't think Roger's and Nordic were neighbors though. This thread is sure an old one. I hadn't even started on the hull resto when I posted that pic.
Here's the finished deal:

I've had it together for almost three years now. It's been relatively trouble free and alot of fun!

Huh? Other than both have a bubble on the deck, they look nothing alike to me. The deck nose is different. The Nordic hull is square, boxy looking and the Rogers has it's classic rounded corners. The top of the gunnales on the Nordic are kinda flat and taper to a boxy bustle while the Rogers are more rounded and flow to the crowned bustle.
Nordic was/is in AZ, Roger was in Bellflower , Ca.
Apples and oranges to be sure.
Hey corlish, didn't know you were in the service. Engine sounds great, I like the dry stacks too, old school.

Thanks Oldrigger!
This has definitely been a project that got away me from in terms of time.
Yes -- I am an engineer in the AF and am blessed to have been accepted into the USAF Test Pilot School at Edwards. The school is a year long and I am trying to stay here afterwards. Upon graduation, I will still be an engineer but will conduct flight tests ... sometimes from a control room and sometimes while on board the aircraft.
Here's a quick shot of me in a T-38 over the California City area ... I am the GIB (guy in back) .... it's a lot of work but when you get to do stuff like this and get paid for it, I am not going to complain :D
