Saw a picture of it and read a littile about it in a mag at my car mechanics shop a couple of weeks ago. It looks pretty tough.
Although not as tough as when Ferrari brought back the real deal back in the 80s.
The F. GTO was a great exotic and the P. GTO was a great muscle car so this car has a lot to live up to.

350 horse is nice and all.............but why do all the cars have to look like jelly beans these days? :yuk: It looks like a pontiac grand am to me.
What ever happened to the classic lines? I think Ford is hitting the nail on the head. Their '05 Mustang is retro looking, the T-Bird was retro looking while it lasted, etc.

The T-Birds are getting top dollar. They were getting 15k over invoice when released and people were buying them.
My father payed 7k over for one and that was a deal.

Looks from the undercarriage picture that it is an All Wheel Drive?
Or have I doing it too long and need glasses?

That was when they first came out. Ford has discontinued making of the T Bird after this year, due to insufficient sales. The demand wore off.

Pontiac says its new Aussie-built GTO will be priced from $32,495 - not including the unavoidable $1000 gas-guzzler tax imposed on automatic-transmission models.
Order the six-speed Tremec manual transmission (a $695 option) and the GTO avoids the tax because the manual produces 17/29 mph fuel economy ratings. With the automatic, the ratings drop to 16/21 mpg, for a composite rating of 21.5 mpg.
A new Pontiac GTO, scheduled for production late in 2003, borrows the shapely two-door body of a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Monaro coupe built by Holden, a GM subsidiary in Australia. Under the hood a 5.7-liter V-8 Corvette engine makes 340 hp and gets 'Vette transmissions, too: either a heavy-duty four-speed automatic or a close-ratio manual six-speed. Mechanical goodies coming with the GTO include a limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes with an anti-lock brake system (ABS), and traction control (TCS). A 2+2 cockpit gets leather trim and a premium sound system with ten speakers and six-disc CD changer.

Nice specs, cool looking dash, but like the T-bird, if you're gonna bring back a legend, can't you at least make it look less like an Acura Integra, and more like a real muscle car?
I mean really, Dodge did it right with the Viper, so couldn't they have put their collective heads together and created a bitchen creation for those of us that still care about the real muscle cars of the 60's!

Yes it looks like a Grand Prix to me. But then, Pontiac's first GTO just looked like a Le Mans. Now, the origional GTO, by Ferarri was an awsome looking car. :D
I think it would be cool if Pontiac gave it more of a retro muscle look.

seriously...that would be a very cool car if it were a GTP, but as a GTO...eh.
one of the few cars that have done it right (oh this kills me) is the F**D GT40...that is a nice car, with lots of gidyup.

I was really stoked to see it in person at the LA auto show. Too bad it sucks, I was looking forward to the revival.:(

Dodge/Chrysler seems to be doing things right with their Vipers, Prowlers, and the new Crossfire (pretty much a mercedes SLK). I'd like to see Plymoth/ Mercedes and Carroll Shelby get together and bring back the Cuda. :D

In 1964, my uncle bought a spakin' new GTO. Red with a gold interior, and every option available...3 duces, Muncie 4-speed, Hurst shifter, 3.90 posi, cool imitation-woodgrain steering wheel, dual exhaust tips behind rear wheels....the whole enchilada....
I bought it from him after graduating high school in 1971. I was in heaven....couldn't keep clutches in the thing....or gas. Unfortunately, being young and without lots of $$$$....I sold it
off a year later. Kinda uneconomical transportation into and out of the city. What an idiot......
I see the new GTO and think......from the door forward....maybe it's got potential......but from the doors rearward....it's another Acura.
That whole rear wheel drive concept is a good thing though....Amen !!!!:D :D

My cousin has a 67 GTO that his parents bought new in 67....i have to agree with everyone....why in the hell couldn't they take a "legend" like the "GTO" and make something special!!!!
Ford is coming out with the "ford GT" which is a kind of tribute to the car the took lemans in the 60s...it is a beautiful rendition!!
Pontiac made a huge mistake!!
