Does anyone ever think back to " Man I wish I'd kept some of those" for me it was quite a few , 66 Impala 396,70 Chevelle 396,73 Roadrunner 383 and 88 5.0. When you were young you thought fast cars and great speeds until the speeding tickets what if then we knew about fast boats and cruising as fast as we could go with no worries and a few tight bikini's at our side the only way to live and play. Just something knew to talk about.

I miss my Chevelle all of the time. I had a 66 SS 396 Convertible that I built from the ground up from the age of 14-21 when I sold it to buy the boat. I am glad that I did it because I am enjoying the boat tremendously, but I still remember the good times I had in that ride. Wish I could have them both.

Had a few when younger. If I could have kept one it would have been the 641/2 mustang convertible. Original engine, interior etc. Sold the damn thing for 1500.00. Would be worth a mint now.

1969 1/2 Dodge Super Bee, 440 six pac and a 4 speed. Hemi Orange with a black vinyl top and a black interior.
I sold that in good condition for $1500 in 1984. I could just shoot myself  It's probably worth 35k today.
1969 Plymouth Road Runner, 383 with a 4 speed. Silver with black vinyl top and black velour interior.
1968 Oldsmobile 442 Cutlass. 455 and a 4 speed. Powder blue with black interior.
1972 Dodge Charger. 400 with an auto. Hemi Orange with black vinyl top and black interior.
The Super Bee and the Road Runner were flat out bad ass cars. They were super fast, accelerated like a bat out of hell, and looked tough. I used to take them down to Van Nuys Bl. on Wednesday nights to run them. I did'nt lose too many.
The Charger was a great highway cruiser. It had 2:73 rear end gears and would cruise effertlessly at 100 mph all day.
I sure miss those cars. :(

But the one I let slip through, Mom said a friend was moving and selling an old Mustang she'd give me for 200 bucks! This was about 1977, I'm just out of high school that June and flippin' burgers. Went and looked at it. 66 fastback, 289 4 bbl, pony interior, auto, rally pack, console, the sport rims, A/C. I even drove it. Granted it needed some work but man! So did I buy it, Nope this dumbass wanted a new set of Cragar SS's fror his Skylark :( Oh to go back in time.

In 1973 I bought a '57 Plymouth Fury coupe from a school teacher for $125. It was bright red with a white top, had a tuck and roll interior and Torq Thrust D wheels. Oh, and a 392 Hemi with a pushbutton tranny. :D I was in high school at the time.
It was one of those deals you find on a grocery store note board, I had a Trans Am at the time but figured it was too good to pass up. I mean, my gawd, a HEMI!
The teacher had paid someone put a 4.11 rear end gear in it. I drove it down to the McDonalds we all hung out at, and my buddies laughed themselves silly at my expense. I didn't mention what was under the hood, just went along with the jokin' until I cornered one of my friends with a 383 Roadrunner and challenged to race him.
The guys all thought I was loony, laughed even more. We got out on the street, lined up on a 5 MPH rolling start and let 'er rip.
Now the Fury wasn't a light car, but the combination of the rolling start, the torque of the hemi, and the 4.11 rear got it going in a hurry. I pulled a car length on my buddy and kept until we shut down after about a ten second race.
I turned around and went back to MickeyDs, my vanquished and embarrassed friend following behind my finned terror. It was suhhweet.... :D :D
After driving the Plymouth around for a few months we got the stupid idea of making it into a desert racer. We chopped it up, shortened it, and installed a roll cage on it. When the weather turned cold I parked it outside my Dad's shop, and never drove it again. I think he finally had someone haul it away.
I sure would like to have that $125 car back.....

Another fun ride belonged to my father. He had a 69 Vette with a 427 and 4-speed. Thing was fairly well "tweeked." He had no interest in driving it so it was basically my car when ever I wanted to drive it. When the motor was built it put out 630+ h.p. I took it to the track one time and burned the tires to the tree. Got the car to hook and still ran high 11's. Then I got kicked out for not having a cage. I drove this Vette and my Chevelle from the time I turned 16 until 21. Good Times!

My Dad also had a 69 427 Vette. I loved to ride in that car. He used to always listen to the Eagles when we were in it, and everytime I hear one of their songs I think of that car.

Well I started a little earlier than most of you did, but I had some good cars, of which I had all of them back but hindsight is 20/20 isn't it;
1940 Ford 2 door sedan
1947 2 door Ford coupe
1950 Ford 2 door coupe
1957 Chevy DelRay with a 265 hp 283 factory 2/4's
1958 Chevy Impala convertible 348 tripower auto with factory a/c
1962 Corvair Spyder
1966 Dodge Charger 383 4 speed
1969 GTO 400 Ram Air turbo 400 trans
after that the family needed a sensible mode of transportation, so, it was basically this that and the other until my twilight years, since then I have had a 72 Nova and 76 vette, and numerous water hotrods.

Magnum. At a Camaro part shop in Huntington Beach CA, there is an all original '68 Yenko Camaro fully restored to prime condition. they are selling raffle tickets and going to raffle off of the car. The guy said one time that the value of the car was over $500,000. I do not know if he is full of it, but an original Yenko is worth over 100k if done right and all original. The guy in the store says that there were only like 7-8 of these Yenko Camaros made in '68 and that the one in their show room was the only one remaining that had not been butchered and turned into a race car. Awesome car!!!

Joe Don, I would love to have a '58 Impala convertible. There is one in the collection at the Imperial Palace in Vegas that has just 12,000 miles on it, looks like it was built a few months ago.
They also have a '59 Bonneville convertible, really a freekin' awesome car.

I'm not into the muscle car thing to much but do have a few favorites.
One is the Olds Ram/Rod or W-31 350 cu. in. cars. These things were and still are some of the fastest small block cars from the day.
At some of the F.A.S.T. events these things are running high twelves and thirteens on bias ply's through cast iron manifolds. The factory cams are as lopey or choppy as you could ask for and they are shifting them up towards 6500. For FU$KS SAKE!!!
This guy lives in Detroit and ordered this one brand new back when he was an engineer for Olds back in the late sixties. He got to stop down on the line and watch this thing being built. I've been up to his place and seen this thing. It's a 4 speed and has factory 3.91 gears. The drive train has been rebuilt and sealed certified stock. It's spotless and still has the original paint! They run it quite a bit.

I have owned 4 different 1970 Chevelles. the first was an original LS6 454 car and I am still kicking myself in the ass for that one. My first child came along so I had an excuse. The latest one was the car I gave up for my first ever boat. It had a radical 468 roller motor (650 horses with 250 worth of NOS on top of that), full race turbo 400 with a transbrake, 4:56 gears, full rollcage and a full exhaust for the street. Never got the car dialed in but it did run a 10.32 @ 137 spinning the tires. It was a handful on the street but a lot of fun. I am having so much fun with my new toy that I dont shed any more tears when I go into my garage anymore.

1 - 57 Chevy 2dr - paid $300.00 for it in 1975 with a spare 327/300hp engine-the guy literally put it in the trunk...sold the emblems off it for $500. and the rest of the car for $1000.00 after auto shop was over. $1200 profit was huge money for an 18 year old in 1975
2- 69 Chevelle convertible 350/350 hp
3- 71 Lemans Sport convertible with the GTO enduro front end 400 ci with a turbo 400 tranny, this car was a runner. Used to pull my first boat with it. Picked up girls on the freeway when going to the lake. Sold it to buy a truck for work (see 4)
4- 73 Chevy 1/2T with a 396
5- 79 Z28
Oh well, live and learn.....

i guess i am too young to have owned alot of the early muscle cars . by the time i was legal to drive they were already mucho expensive. this is the car that was hot when i started driving. 1988 ford mustang coupe. this one is a retired texas dps interceptor. i have modified it with a 351 cid motor , aluminum heads, intake, cam etc ,etc, . it also has a t trim vortech blower. best time on pump gas is an 11.41@127 . i plan on a good race gas tune soon.

Ok guys my girl friend and now wife ran around in a 1969 Roadrunner with 383 4 speed car with 4:10 gears. The car was pretty quick and she could run with most of the guys.
