Hey you have helped me in the past I'm stuck between a 427bbc or a 460bbf. I have the 1973 21' "TAHITI TOAD"
What do you recomend?? I see you run a ford, that is what I prefer to use.

I'm a bit biased, but I'd say go with the Ford. You can build good power into em pretty resonably and mine's been very reliable. I have three other boating buddies that run em in their jets and their's have been real good too.
It is my understanding that they're pretty easily (inexpensively) stroked too although mine's not. Rule of thumb is pretty much "The more cubes the better with jets".
Personally I think the BBF makes a real nice jetboat motor.

If the boat is set up for a ford. Then use ford power.
The ford will hold up better.

Thanks guys I was going to go with the 427 with a .060 bore But I thinkI'm going with the 460bbf Since I am a ford man.
Anyone else have an opinion?

Personally, I like Chevy for a few reasons.....bigger bang for the buck being the main one.
It's my real opinion that you build whatever you're most comfortable with and take your time doing it. If you're going to build for more power, make sure you take the time in matching all the parts for what you want to do, that includes matching it to your pump.
I've seen more problems arise out of haste than most anything else on all of the engines.

Build the ford, there a few tricks to make them live nothing big. A nice set of late 60's heads with stock sized valves mild port work and a good valve job. Weiand stealth intake with a 850 and an isky cam and you have a nice motor that will last a long time.

You just described my motor ................... all except the Isky cam. I'm running a Clay Smith. Oh yeah, and Edelbrock heads rather than the re-worked irons.
