It's coming to South Carolina in a few weeks less power.
The owner is having two 800+ motors built in Atlanta (Gary Grimes) plus a pretty healthy shot on NOS.

what do you think it will run on motor with two honest 800s on the dyno and SC drives?
My buddy is stepping up just a tad. He had a 1999 25 Eliminator (single step) with a 822 ci N/A and a 250 short of NOS. He had a SC drive with a 3" shorty and set back.

My buddy that is getting this boat said that they had a open bow with 900SCs and #6s running in the 150 range.
I think he will run close to 140 on motor.

Yeah, that's if he can keep the Bravo drives ALIVE! If your going to go for SPEED stop trying to be cheap and go with #-6 drives. THEY'RE bullit Proof!
I've seen too many many friends go thru Bravo drives like POPCORN trying to go fast with MEGA horsepower motors. All they do is pay the same money in the long run as I did for #-6 drives. They will experience ruined vacations, many disappointed and ruined weekends and not too mention our wives or girlfriends getting ROYALLY pissed off and not wanting anything further to do with the Boating scene. One buddy has a 2003 CAT and has gone through 8 drives and his boating was over when he blew a drive at about 65 mph and it through his son out of the boat. His wife said he either sold the boat or she was gone! The boat was sold very FAST!
Now, lets cover the DANGER ISSUE! Have you ever seen what happens to a CAT that has blown a drive at high speed?? It either barrel rolls or makes a very fast left or right turn that you have NO CONTROL in preventing or stopping. If your not thrown from the boat or killed your very lucky. Think of dual drives as a Tank with two tracks. Now we all know what happens to a tank when you stop one of the Tracks.......it turns left or right very fast. The same is what happens to a CAT with dual outdrives.
Insurance is another area of concern. You guys better be honest and tell your insurance carrier the horspepower and the REAL top speed of the boat. My wife is an insurance agent and she tells me if you lie on the speed or horsepower you have ZERO insurance and any claims will be denied and not covered. All your premiums you paid were paid in vain and your SCREWED! I know too many guys who got their MEGA Horsepower 120 mph+ boat covered as a family runabout with their HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE. They have zero insurance as it is fraud and when the adjuster inspects the boat after a accident you will be denied any claims.
Be careful and safe and be aware.

good advice GL I have a question... when I got my insurance premium I told my guy the true HP and the top speed of the boat after the first water test 121mph.... since then HB magazine tested it for 5mph better...do I have any risk with that small of a margin? I personally have never seen better than 120 but I pay enough in the premium to want to be "sure" my ass is covered, ty in advance:D

Charley, I would be safe and discuss it with your insurance agent. I'm not an Attorney and I can't or won't give LEGAL advice. As long as you keep the Insurance Co. fullly informed your on the safe side.
Remember, like dealing with the IRS, put everything in writing. So, write him a letter discussing the issue and request a written reply from him on the topic. That way if there ever is an issue from the Insurance carrier you've got proof of your communication and his reply.
Yes, it may cost you another $50+? per year, but it's worth it for the piece of mind.
What boat do you have and the motors? Where do you do most of your boating? If you ever see us, please stop by to say hello. We are the DCB MACH-34 that is used in all the DCB rear cover ads in Powerboat Magazine. We have a matching FL60 Freightliner with the same graphics.
Our Boat is for sale, so if you know anyone wanting a 140+ mph Cat with 1050 Teague blower motors and #-6 drives tell them to call me. (408-842-1400) The motors are NEW & have 12 hours on them.
My wife wants to move out of Calif. TOO many people, congestion, and the overall cost of living is insane! We can live on the east coast, on the water with a dock and the same size house for less $$$ Even food is less money back east. Gas is about $1.36 - $1.45 Welcome to CALIF. Get ready to be screwed for everything. So what we have nice weather. I've traveled all over and YES it's true Calif. does have nice weather. But, it's a trade-off after awhile and all the other crap takes it's toll and you finally see that the wonderful trade off isn't so wonderful after all.
Be careful and Safe. Thanks for your comments.
Sincerely,
GLWBEAR

SWEEET..looks nice..Grimes builds some awesome stuff down here..
Mike where is he gonna run it..Murray doesn't have enough water:D or room .."gonna need a bigger lake"
Keep us posted..if its gonna be on Lanier on a rough day it will be like a moon shot after he launches..:D
Seriuosly though..I would like to see it or know when they start testing it on the water..I am up there all the time on Lanier..I would think they would test it on the north end of the lake.It would be great to have a DCB out here..not many nor are a lot of people up on the DCB "west coast"stuff here..

It will be a few more weeks b4 Gary has the motors complete. Probably in middle to end of DEC.
I'm sure they will test on Lanier. The owner is a local at Hartwell Lake. That will be it's home. He does travel with his boats somewhat. He always makes your Poker Run on Lanier.
As soon as I hear something I'll post.
