forged trw pistons part # l23377f60 for a good price will these
be good to use in a blown set up or should i buy a set of piston's
made for a blower set up? and whats the difference in the pistons? thanks pat(slotracer):D

Pat , what is the comp.ratio of those ??
I am running the 2399's @ 8.75/1 / the more static comp. the less boost you will be able to run
If I did over again I would probably stay around 7.5 - 8 / 1
not that I have had any problems , just more Boost = More Power
Just my 2* Gopherrr

according to the summit book with 106.9cc heads the comp.
is 8.36 i have a set of canfield alum heads that are 119c.c.
heads. i am not really sure what the final comp. would be.
thanks pat(slotracer):D

I think you mean L2377 F60. If so, compression would be about 7.75 to 1.
If so we have used this piston in a blown gas hydro for many years, no problems. I would recommend throwing the wrist pins away and buying taper walls.

thats the right number l2377f. what do you mean by tapped wall
pin? the set is brand new for $225.00. it sound like a good deal for them. i want to use them with a 6.385 long rod with a stock steel crank. should i buy them? thanks pat(slotracer):D

Price is right. Taper wall wrist pins are a heavier wall wrist pin made for blower use. Pin ID is thicker in the center and tapers in thickness. Thicker straight wall wrist pins are available also. I just do not trust a stock wrist pin in blown applications for good reasons. I tried it. And lost a motor because of it.
Childs and Albert, JE or others sell good wrist pins. I like the 185 gram taper walls. Never lost one in all the motors I have built.

Pat, from the listings I have, those can only be used with the standard(6.135") length rod.

Yep, I missed the rod length deal. I don't think trw makes pistons for longer rods.

in talking with heatseeker he says that there is a little extra room at the top to use the pistons with a longer rod. i will have to check with him again tomorrow after work but i think that is what he is using in his engine now thanks for the infomation guys.

Room at the top? Not 1/4".

i may have misunderstood him then. but if the price is right on
the pistons and you have been using that set up. if it works for you then it should work for me.:D

They will work, but with stock length rods. You may be able to use them with .400 long rods if you have a .400 tall deck block.

I've used a lot of TRW/Speed Pro pistons. Only disadvantage is they are heavy. But they are tough. And cheap. Generally we use a tall deck with a .400 long rod. The blown gas deal of Eric Sjogren was a stock length rod and the pistons you are looking at in a low deck. He raced it 5 years and finally the block gave up. SRP makes a good piston also and you can get the pin location you need for a .250 long rod. Around $500 a set but the pins still need to be replaced. Arias used to make (maybe still do) a shelf blown gas piston that came with taper wall pins for less than $500. Not sure is they still do but Doug Herbert would know.
