Hello,
I was just wondering what a 21mtr with a 1997 pro max that has had intake and exhaust work done that is sapposed to be rated at 290hp can do for top end.

That is a very clean and nice boat for sale. Someone wanted 40K for it a few months ago on e-bay. Ba ha ha! They said 100+ the first time out. I guess they got the setup perfect right from the start. I guess low 80's. I also think 290hp is high for what was done to mota, my guess 245. That boat will fly with a 280 or 300x on it. Give them 18k for it. Your question might be better answered a www.screamandfly.com.

Thanks alot guys for the input ,
I am not sure what I was looking at I just got into the boat world last summer. I was looking at 23mtrs and a 25daytona but didnt want to cough up that much cash for a boat just yet, but anyways I bought the boat two weeks ago and when I went out to look at it and was in imacculant condition, which I couldnt believe how clean a boat could look for being 7 to 8yrs old. I think the jump from a 03 18ft crownline cookycutter is a good jump to what Im going into for another year or two.

The guy who advertised 290 hp is a) on crack or b) modified the shiznit out of the motor, not just intake and exhaust.
With about 245 hp or so, that boat would be lucky to hit 85 going down hill with a tail wind. It is a pretty big boat for 245 hp. With a 280 hp, my guess would be low to mid 90's consistently. My guess is the 102 mph they advertise is a light weight set-up with a well massaged motor and TALL Prop.
Having said all that, they are very nice boats.

At this years BBSP in Havasu there was a guy with a 21mtr with a new 280 and it ran 102mph many times that day on radar. Just for the record I have two DCB's at my shop right now with twins on them that can be bought at this time of year for CHEAP! Any questions call Drew at Boatmasters 925-828-5775. Keep in mind full of people, fuel and coolers these boats will run 110+ easy!!!

Damn. I am impressed. I guess I will take the shoe out of my mouth. I doesn't taste too good. Those boats must pack a LOT of air to run 102 mph with a 2.5L 280 motor.
Did it take a 32" prop and half the lake to hit 102?

21 Cougars over or very close to 100 with 280 and even a 260, really depends on the weight of the boat.
IMO, Cougars are the fastest of the similar type air entrapment hulls, Eliminator, Liberator, Talon with apples being apples.
The trouble with a 225 Promax is going to be the limiter, I think they top out at 6800.
My guess would be mid 80's.

family & performance boating has an article on them by john tiger jr. 102 mph @ 7600 rpm's with a 14.5x 30 merc lighting et lab finish. july 2001. I can tell that info is correct because that is my little brothers boat, it will run that or better all day every day. only work done to it yet is plugs and filters.
not a bad article,
Kevin
P.S. the riot is still faster, ( but not in the rough, rough stuff )
