Out here, they are required when your boat goes over 125 MPH.
Don't you have similar laws?

The best boat under $50k is a boat that:
* runs
* doesn't sink
* can hold your beer
* and your friends

I'm with Miller. Buy a new used boat. Get close to what you want, and a lot more value.

Count on lots of people wanting new also.
Used boat sales are awesome. They allow the sale of new boats. If there is no used boat market, nobody will be able to afford to jump up in price, size or performance. If you can't off your old boat for a reasonable price, you are locked into it.

BTW, the boat Whipped Caliber is selling is an absolute steal. That is why I am saying buy used. You get a $100K boat for under 50K
Run, don't walk to check that one out...

You can buy a lot of great used custom boats for under 50K, but, if I were buying new, I'd buy the Hallett 210, right about 50K out the door...nice boat, set up, all-in-all, a great water ride.

I would go with the 23' Dana open bow. With a 496HO the boat will do mid 70's and is a very solid built and looking boat. I think you could get one for mid to high $40K.
