Just finished my first worse one. 98 Ford F-150. Everything but the firewall had to to come out. Flat rate was around 8.5 hrs when in reality it took me about 12. Luckily I get paid hourly:D

Back in the 70s I had a Mercury Bobcat station wagon with a V-6. The heater core crapped out and I started in to change it. I got one side of the dash torn apart, and then saw what it was going to take to finish the job. I said to hell with it and cut and looped the heater hose under the hood. It was like impossible to do as far as I was concerned...and I sure couldn't afford what the dealer wanted to charge me...never did fix that heater core.

I agree, how much rust ya got? Look at the sill along hatchback. And can you still carry your spare in the well? Gave my `85 away about 3 years ago.

You live in Phoenix, AZ. What the F**K are you doing worring about the heater for. What do you do, use it like TWICE a year. Plug it off and PUT A SHIRT ON when it drops to 70° fer Chrissakes. JustKiddin....I think!!!!

is it leaking or just not heating ?
if its not leaking it just may be the flow controll for the water most are vacume operated . some are manual but usually on older cars , or it may just need to be cleaned and flushed , Ide check those things before I dumped alot of $$ in a heater core

Did one in a 99 taurus. UNFUN!
Did that 8.5 hour figure come from alldata? Alldata gave 1.5-2 hr to replace EGR valve on 95? T-bird 3.8 L. Easily took 13 hours! Fortunately understanding boss. Where do they come up with that sh!t?
