LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) -- Local officials were gearing up to warn visiting boaters about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Lake Havasu City officials ordered 5,000 additional information brochures to be passed out at area launch ramps starting Friday.
Carbon monoxide poisoning from boat exhaust has been linked to at least two deaths at or near the Bridgewater Channel in recent years.
The city hired a private contractor to do an air quality evaluation on the lake. A final report is scheduled next month, but an early evaluation showed carbon monoxide levels were highest in
the afternoon during busy holiday weekends.
