Anyone going this week-end. Overnight or just for lunch. If I have the boat back & no rain my wife and I will be going. We like going out of Newport or Davies either one. Wish I would had stayed here & went to Catalina instead of Havasu. Lost two more tires on the way home. With only one spare, had to buy one @ Costco in Palm Desert. Two hours added to the six. What a bitch.
I will try and post a couple of pics from the last trip with Barry & the crew.

Sorry to hear about your tires. That sucks. With the temps dropping I'm sure the pressure in everyones tires have dropped also. Not good for trailers and weight. Two tires going out sounds like a lot. Was it the same tire? Bent axle? Double check your pressure on the trailer and all vehicles too.
I bought of those tiny air compressors from Costco for $99. It dosen't pump shit but it will bring my tires up to specs before I leave home. I think my tire sidewall says up to 44psi on the boat. I usually keep 40 or so.
Faster and I went this past and it was a blast. My insurance is on layup starting today. I'm not sure how long that is going to last. Check with Faster Daddy. He loves to go. Plus, he's pretty damn intertaining too. :D

Starloans, what is layup on your ins. all about ? I have a set of Carlisle & they are warranty replacing all 7. I always run the max 50 p.s.i. in the boat & my work trucks @ 90 p.s.i. less flex, but less heat. They last longer also. I though I could make one trip to Havasu. (not) I tried to have them replaced after the first one came apart. 4 out of the 6 are gone. Took-out both fenders & marked up the boat now. It's a shame it had to come to this for them to step-up. Now they get to fix it all. I droped it off at Extreme this morning. Tony said it will be ready on Friday.
Glad you guys had a good time in Catalina. It's fun in the big lake.

Insurance layup is when you store you boat for a period of time and agree not to use it. In exchange your insurance is lower. In my case I agreed on a layup period of 12/1 - 3/31 and I save about $450. I was already getting smacked with about $2650 a year. I couldn't see paying over 3K for a 28 with a factory engine. Now, of course, I don't think the layup is such a good idea, especially here in SoCal.
And I mean I shopped. I guess anything over 26 and things are different. Like that other thread on insurance I didn't want to lie to em and get stuck. I told em. 525hp, 28 ft, 76 mph. At first they thought the engine was a 525SC. I had to take pics and have DCB write a letter saying its not Super Charged. The SC was the old merc 525.
I have a 28 Extreme. The last insurance on the 24 Extreme was only $600. Needless to say I was already in shock  . I picked up my boat in September and the only disappointment was the cost of insurance. BASTARDS!
Shit, sounds like you had some tire issues though. Maybe you got a bad batch or something. That sucks about the fender and marking up the boat. I'd be pissed. I have an extreme trailer. It has these Roadmaster Rampage tires on it. I been to Havasu twice from SD and not a peep out of em.
I gonna have to call my insurance co tomorrow. 4 months is too long. Good luck with the tire thing.

I'm up for a lunch run. I'll go from O'side - maybe hook up for lunch on the Island and run back with you to Newport or ? then back down the coast as the sun sets. Starloans let me know if you want to run, I'll bring extra beer. :D

Faster, the tires have changed. Mine were the older ones. They say no problems now. I trust Extreme on the new ones.

Remember, I mentioned the trailer tires to you on Sunday. Make sure you check the press. :)
I think I might be up for a Catalina run this weekend. If you're serious I would like to go. Let me know.

Starloans, I knew that you wouldn't last long just watching your boat sit all winter - :p I've got some more peeps that still want to go, so you better launch yours also! Ramzy (Loan Ranger) is going to try and make the trip in his again - no whiney in-laws this time. :D
I'm think'n we should try and leave the harbor by 9:00. Cola said he was thinking of coming out of O'side with us. I'm hoping the slight chance of rain Saturday night/Sunday morn will bring nothing but clouds. I'll check the marine forecast later.

I don't mind a few sprinkles but I didn't want to trash my boat either so I'm watching the games. I haven't heard from Faster in a couple of days. I'm assuming he didn't go either. But ya never know. He told me once he didn't care if there was as much water over the boat as under it. :D
Looks like nice weather for mid week then another storm for next weekend. We need some nice weather otherwise I can't get the chicks to go! :jawdrop:

PUSSIES! JK ;) Left O'side Harbor at 9:00 to low clouds and light mist. Seas were 6+ but spaced very far apart and there was little to no wind. Blasted out of the harbor and got to test my new lab finished 26, 73 mph on gps (when the boat was in the water :D ). Started to get an offshore wind about 10 miles out, then full blown white caps and 3-5 wind waves blowing against the 8-10 ft swells at 25 miles out :( . Stopped at that point, had a beer, then turned for home. Wind layed down near shore again so we made a quick run down to del mar then called it a day. I wouldn't have chosen this weather but still very fun!
Maybe next time you ladies can join us. LOL StarLoans, what color skirt are you wearing while you watch the games
Well just about half time, time to go wash the boat.

Holy shit Faster! You're hardcore. Who the hell did you get to go out with you in this weather?
Sounds like you have the Lavey dialed in. :D How many peeps in the boat to get 73?
Did Ramzy go also?

Faster Daddy
12-07-2003, 02:56 PM
2 guys and a full 80 gallons! The new wheel I think is just right. When I feel the need for more speed I'll have to go whipple.
There was plenty of parking at the ramp today, maybe a half dozen other trailers in the lot. Ramzy had his kids today and did not want to take them out in the weather. It was probably best that women and children stayed home. Hey wait, Starloans/Cola you stayed home too. Ha Ha Ha

Sounds like you still had fun. Light parking is always a plus.
I think you should be able to hit 75 with no peeps and white caps!
And oh yeah, if you take that 80qt cooler full of beer out of your boat you should be able to get another 1-2 mph! :D

I don't live 20 min. from the launch, more like 2+ hrs. If I would have drug it down there in the rain I'd still be washing the thing.(cry, cry, cry) At least I wouldn't have turned back. We would of stayed the night. And I wore dress (commando) shopping thank-you. See you next week "Brain the animal"

Clean-up was a bitch, so I won't give you guys any more shit. I will say that I chose to turn back, not had to. There is no way I would have turned around if I was chasing You or Starloans it would have been way too much fun!
I'll be leaving for Laughlin on Thurs-Sun for a "let it Ride" tournament at the Flamingo. The casino is paying for this trip so no way am I going to pass it up. :) I plan on Boating Lake Mojave Friday and Havasu on Saturday so I'll have to pass on next weekend. I'll be taking the boat to Lavey for bow and cockpit covers the next week but I would like to make a trip after that over Christmas break if anyone is up to it. Let me know.

Can I take my Essex to Lavey for covers also, I need someone that knows what is going on. What do they get about $800 or so for both. Drop me a name & # and I'll call.(Please) You won't find any waves @ Havasu like today, but Mojave last time I was there & went up to the dam 4'+. It was ugly.(Yes I wore my skirt) Sorry again for bailing today. I'll honk in the AM when I go buy to O-Side but you'll still be ZZZZZZZZn. Good luck on the tables "press" oh yea we don't have to tell you that.

Cola,
Honestly speaking I don't know if I would have bought my covers from Lavey if I hadn't purchased at the time boat was being built, too expensive. $1200 for Bow and Cockpit, but made up the difference on other options :) . There is another company in Corona who did a great job with covers for a friends boat - top quality/great price. They are Adlee Covers. Check their website here
www.adleecoversboats.com (http://www.adleecoversboats.com/)

Faster, or should we just call you "Daddy"
I talked to them maybe I'll get it setup. They were pretty high also. I should have had it done in Havasu this summer. A lot cheeper. Drove down & checked out the launch ramp in Oceanside today @ lunch, 5min. & your out of the harbor. It will take me 2 hrs from my house. Only 2'-3' surf today. Should have brought the boat.
