Heres a few from a run last January. Went over with a group of about 10 boats. It was some of the best boating I've ever experienced....

If your considering a run over there, I have a few suggestions.
1. Try to go over in a group of other boaters. There is safety in numbers.
2. Research the predicted ocean conditions (swell, wind, fog, etc). If there isn't much wind chop forecast and the swell interval is over 10-11 seconds or so, your gonna have a pretty good ride!
3. Carry a really good quality GPS. I have one with mapping functions. Program it with waypoints. This will make your trip pretty easy.
4. Carry a compass. Don't rely 100% on a single piece of navigation equipment. They can fail leaving you in dire straits. Know your starting and destination points at a minimum
5. Make sure your equipment is in top shape.
6. Carry at least a decent quality hand held VHF radio. That way you can call for help if you do get in trouble.
7. Flush your trailer right after launching. Getting the salt off right away will make a really big difference.
8. Clean your equipment really well afterward. Salt is hard on everything. Salt away for your motor is a really good idea.
9. Watch out for dolphins. You will probably see them and its always a great experience!

We have some from this past weekend, but the computer at our house is being fixed right now so I have no way to post.
This past weekend was very smooth and clear. Did not even need the gps, but the above suggestions are definitely right on.
I have some pics this past weekend of Tim Allen's (Bill Gates partner) yacht that was anchored off avalon. This thing was AMAZING. Looked to be at least 250'....Had a full size fishing boat tendered on one side, a sail boat on the other, a couple of ribs and a helicopter. I will post when I can.
Catalina is definitely a cool place.

Thats it...I remember the name "Tatoosh" on it. Registered in the Grand Cayman Islands...The talk on the Island that day was that it is now owned by Tim Allen.
We idled up next to it and it is just amazing:eek:

And the sunset when we were headed back to Dana Point. You can kind of make out the outline of the Island...
