The team in the picture wanted a capsule in thier boat so they had Ron Jones build one. I think Jones built an entire deck mold in preparation for the new A.P.B.A. capsule rule.
This capsule rule is the reason for the new and not so new outlaw (non A.P.B.A.) circle races.
The overwhelming majority of west coast inboard racing teams will not adopt this capsule rule, but thats another story.

While making a delivery to Ron Jones shop( or maybe his sons shop) I saw a Carbon Fiber, capsuled, Biesmeyer, they had in the works. They used the Biesmeyer that had belonged to the late George Stratton, to make the mold. This was last spring so I don't know if it has progressed beyond what I saw. It looked like their main focus was on the hydros in the shop. (Grand National, and 5 litre type. Also the Top Fuel Dragster body that Joe Amato ran part of the year.
