I have a 1992 260hp 5.7 with a Alpha One. I have heard that there is a kit from Edelbrock that has the heads, cam, intake and carb for a pretty good HP upgrade, has anyone tryed this combo? Part#'s? Any recommendations otherwise. What I would like to know is if anyone has a tryed and true setup. I really don't want to waste much water time working on the boat. Any help?

Ready for install on fresh 355 with worked s/r torquer heads . Like your heads better. Parts call Summit or Jegs good prices.Great book by Dennis Moore on small block Marine Performance.

Desert Rat, I have a 2000 mercury 350 250hp (Vortec heads, roller cam) performer intake manifold, Holley 600 double pumper, Imco Exaust & Risers and Comp. Cams XM 270HR - 12 camshaft. (lift .495int. .503ex dur 270/276 112sepration).
Mallory comp ignition system. With 5 blade 21p stainless prop I was pulling 4500 RPM before upgrades Motor now pulls past 5300 Rpm limit. I gained close to 10MPH and much stronger mid range with upgrades. I have been very happy with this combo. Probably the max H.P. my Alpha Drive can handle. Motor is in Ultra 210 RS. The carb and manifold swap provides the best gain per $$. I think there are a lot of good combos out there for the SBC, good Luck.

Vortec heads-cheap and good bang for the buck Any one of above mentioned cams. Crane HI-6 ignition utilizing Merc. distrutor Edelbrock intake for vortec heads Re-jet your carb. if its the squarebore Weber Larger spark arrestor and stub stack We did these exact mods. to a 20.5 ft.v-hull that had a 350 2barrel alpha on it.Went from 52 to 65mph.

If I change out my 92 heads for the Vortec heads will my stock exhaust manifolds still fit? I currently have the Quadrejet(sp)spread bore right now. If I was to change I would think I would lean towards the edelbrock carb. I would love to get 60+ out of the boat.
