Yes I can !!!!! I built a datona 26 like the one they reported on and it would not perform the same as they tested.I want to ride in it with my GPS :D But even if it gets close to 155 thats one fast boat !!!! Im really impressed if its correct and would have considered buying that boat had I known it would perform like that. My little 26 has run 137 to date and will be going for 145 but thats just a one time run deal to prove a point !!!! I think I want a bigger boat to go that fast !!!

He may be doing the Spring Heatwave, so maybe you'll be side-by-side....then you can use "your GPS".
Better fill up a few nitrous bottles, though.

I think the Rocketman needs another engine. Do not think he realizes he is balking on a twin engine performance number.
All he needs is one of my 705 Quad Rotor beasts. :D

HH,
What do you think a 29 Hull trailer and interior would run? Less motors drives and and rigging? Just a ballpark figure?
I know that boat is alot more then $150k More like $300k
The Artical says $165 base with twin basic mercs. How much do you think those motors and drives add to the price?

WW...I'm gonna have to defer that to the expert- Charley.
I could make a call...but everytime I do, I almost buy something.
However, I think $100K-$120K is a good ballpark figure...depending on how much Charley's commission is.

Well well..... I wouldn't want to speculate on pricing and for the record I have never recieved any commish on any of the 5-6 deals I have helped Dave put together... I just appreciate what he has done for me and I try to both, promote his boats, and also to watch his back here when someone is having an issue that he should address. Dave has done a few un rigged boats. He likes to look at individual situations and specifically wants to insure the boat will end up rigged like he wants all DCB's to be rigged (representin is big with Dave) I will say that based on a recent experience Dave would not be as "open" to sending a Boat, much less his hottest seller(f29), out of his shop un rigged. he got burned for a few grand recently and has a sour taste in his mouth.

120k for some fiberglass on a trailer? Boy am I in the wrong business! I know the 29 is a big boat, but for that much I would have expected a fully rigged boat, maybe even with stock single power. I guess that's why those DCBs all come out so nice. Too bad there won't be one under my Christmas tree this year!

Infomaniac

Someone will pay it.
Plus that cost is in case someone splashes it. Easy to do to a non rigged boat.

Would that be by anyone we know, Charley?
BTW...someone needs to clarify "unrigged" so no one gets confused (i.e. interior, wiring, guages, hardware, etc.). Is "unrigged" just minus motors and drives, or "a blank"?
PS- If this thread is entertaining...stop that right now!

The reason I was asking was I am considering pulling the trigger on a DCB at this years LA boat show. At least paying to get in line! The next decision is what to go with either a 26 or a 29. I like the 29 much better cause bigger is better right?
My first thought was to give Tony at WCRM a shot to rig it as I was impressed by him when I met him awhile back while he was working at DCB. I also thought I might save a few $ going with Tony? But I also realize you get what you pay for so this is up in the air. (I also read the other thread by DBM and want to make sure Tonys still doing solid work. But I will talk with him)
As for the motor I was thinking about giving Info (Ron) a shot and either going with a 705 CI Quad Rotor or twin 632 CI EFI motors.
This also depends on addtional rigging and drive costs.
Anyway this is just planning stages as I need to consult with my Build Agent Charlie !

Although I haven't had any work done by Tony--he is definately at the top of my list to have a boat put together, regardless of what DBM/DMB says. I enjoy talking to him, think he does definately know his stuff, and knows plenty of people in the industry for anything he ever needs. I think that Tony could get you a 29 DCB and rig it, but that is just speculation. I can almost guarantee you would save money; just how much is a different story.
Here's a plug for Howard--they are going to start a 30' cat (its a ground up project, I believe the deck will somewhat resemble the bullet lines- its gonna be bad ass)--who's going to get in line for this thing. I would, but I'm sure they want more than 20 bucks to hold a spot :D
I thought we were all here for entertainment!

The guy that owns the 155 mph DCB 29' Cat with the open bow
is Jim Schneider. He has one of our deckboats with a 575 ITS
setup etc. He's a great guy to boat with. He stays at the Beachcomber and also has a 41' Formula. All his boats are
killer.
Yes, the 29' DCB really does go 155+ mph and he suspects there's more there somewhere! He paid about $350,000 for
the entire project! One of the motors (Merc SC900) broke a
couple of weeks ago and is being rebuilt by Merc. He has
mufflers on them and is quiet but when he's on it, just look
for a big roostertail of water and those #6 drives will let you
know where he is.
Nice boat!

I know I have asked this before. Do you remember what the final results were with that big single? There were some prelim numbers out there but I dont remember the final result? Was this boat done before Dave dropped the X and got more speed out of the 29?

Im not wounded --- remember thats a twin eng boat and a lot larger . What I ment was the facterys seem to post speed that are not reasonable for what we get after we buy the boat, ive herd it a lot. If the # posted are from GPS from the owners of the boat they are more beliveable to me.I think I can get over 145 mph in Havasu at the heatwave but thats just one run if the conditions are perfict and early in the am before any boats get out there. I wont be pushing the baot that hard in the heatwave or even in normal use as long as I can get to 130 anyhwere anytime I will be happy for a while !! and this time it will be without NOS as the new motor will be capable of around 1600 hp. on its own. I can be happy with the Fastest Single Eng Bravo style Cat ---for a while anyway !!!!:D

How the hell does No Pass throw up such a roost?? I was checking out Daves CD that he gave out at the show and No Pass throws like a 40 - 50ft high rooster tail.. (Man I feel old school) Is he triming it up? Would any boat with 900hp at the prop do that. Or is it just the set up?

Since they are number six's they run bigger surface piercing type props....big and expensive...since they run near the surface, that's the reason for the roost..

The roost you see is from the # 6 drives. They are a surface drive which = monster roost.
