Guys, great forum, I'm sure you all will be sick of me by the time I get done asking questions :D
I bought a '72 Marlin Taurus for $1200. The deck, keelson and transom plywood were all rotted out. Not a big deal, my dad, who has built a couple 'glass boats, is helping me replace that stuff. So far so good, I'll probably stop itching from grinding fiberglass in a couple more days..
The boat came with what I assume is the orginal Oldsmobile 455 Rocket, which looks like it was rebuilt very sortly before the boat got stored. 365HP/510 ft-lbs stock. It's .060 over with cast pistons(doh!), new valves/seats, no oiling system mods, which I've been told are essential to keeping a big block olds together. It's got the high volume oil pump, I know I need to put restrictors in to keep more oil in the main bearings. I've got to get a new cam, what kind of specs should I look for? Any further advice on the engine would be appriciated.
Since it's going to be an ocean going boat, I want a closed cooling system. Haven't been able to find a cheap/used heat exchanger anywhere, anyone have one?
It has a Berkley 12J pump with a "A" impeller. The guy I bought the boat from sent the jet back to Berkley for a rebuild, but didn't get the boat back together.
One of the few pieces I'm missing is an engine mount, anyone know where I can buy one? It's the piece that goes between the bracket that bolts on the engine and the one that bolts onto the engine bearer. You can see whats missing here:

The billet part at the bottom of this page (http://www.rexmar.com/page308.html) should work. I don't have the block flange for olds but it appears you have them both anyway.
