Boat to me would be 32-42 feet. The previous pic would be a yacht. My "boats" have all been 18-27. The 27 was actually pretty damn big for me.

Way to go Spectras Only,,, that is a funny pic. I think anything over 30' is BIG it's a bitch to pull around and find a launch ramp suitable. By the way Spectras I took the 29 out today and was really impressed with it, it does not have that lumbering filling comming out of the hole, quit a fun boat, will continue my work on it this week whipples go on tuesday http://free.***boat.net/ubb/eek.gif

2prop, remember me mentioning the 29 scarab with the single 502 ? I was very impressed with that boat's performance on a single.Your boat should scream with the whipple! Ratso don't feel bad ,we all get carried away focusing on,to give a perfect answer on a topic not to get flamed http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif.happened to me too before http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif .BTW I think a few decades ago the benchmark for a boat being big was the magical 24 feet.Just like 60 MPH for speed.Today it must be 30 feet and over ,and 90+ MPH. Just my 0.02 pennies worth http://free.***boat.net/ubb/tongue.gif

How about a big boat is a boat you can't really afford... It's all relative!

Cats - 25' and up.
V-bottoms - 30' and up (although lately I've seen some big 28'ers.
Or anything that requires a crew!
I don't actually feel money plays into it. Here's a "BIG" boat most of us could afford at $10,000 and 50': http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/2/6/23282826.htm
Yet here's a "small" boat at 19' and $55,000, that many of us could not: http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/0/8/23981408.htm (though I think this one's a bit over priced)

RTJ ,I think the 60's chris crafts ,roamer and constellation models were constructed out of aluminum.According to the ad it's in mint condition,so I assume it's also a missprint. It should have said 99 K instead of 9.9 .

Well the big one may be a misprint, but that 19'er for 55K is solid! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif
Really though, you think that 40y/o boat should be 100K? That can't be right either. I'd go for it myself if the trailer was in good shape! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

RTJ, aluminum boats are extremely expensive to build, and to PAINT! Edgar Kaiser's 85 foot yacht cost 80K cdn to paint to a gelcoat like finish. When he got his 10 million$ 140 footer from Hitachi ,he found some blemish on the hull's paint [I couldn't tell]and sent the boat back to Japan to repaint.Imagine how much that must have cost http://free.***boat.net/ubb/eek.gif.Big boys are the worst customers http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif.BTW this was 10 years ago, costs are higher today.
