Id rather have that daytona than a lexus anyday .:D No offence 396.
I agree bense, its pretty light.if its really 290 lbs like hes claiming. I would think thats due to the kevlar.
I showed my girlfriend a pic, she said the same thing "whats with that garage?" she said it looked like the inside of one of those inflatable bouncing rooms for kids.:D

To be exact,Kevlar in a lay-up more-so increases strength and rigidity than lightness; the actual approach to the lay-up itself is where the majority of the lightness comes. In fact, the increased strength of Kevlar (over fiberglass) is what allows for pushing the envelope of a "lighter lay-up."

That boat is 26K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **** that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why don't one of you buy my Eliminator Daytona hull? I am selling it for $7500 or best offer. Make me an offer! Low ball the hell out of me! I will take 5k cash, right now. I need it bad!!! It also has the light lay up. I am sure you could add a motor and blueprint the jet for WAY less that what this guy is asking, and with the money, I can finish my kitchen remodel so my girlfriend doesn't leave me!!!!

Im no expert but I always assumed the idea behind using kevlar, carbonfiber or whatever else was so you could use less material to layup the boat since its stronger.I understand that kevlar and resin is not lighter than fiberglass cloth and resin, but if you use 20% less material with the trick stuff(kevlar, etc.) than the traditional stuff(fiberglass and cloth?) your boat is that much lighter and possibly the same strength or even stronger since its kevlar.
I personally would not get a light weight that wasnt made with some sort of special lay up.My boat is fairly light, and its a special order lay-up,has some kevlar as well.

Right...that is what I meant to clarify in my has post where I stated, 'In fact, the increased strength of Kevlar (over fiberglass) is what allows for pushing the envelope of a 'lighter lay-up.'" Also, don't confuse Kevlar with Carbon Fiber as they are entirely different materials. Kevlar is a cousin of Nylon and has significant strength/lightness improvements over fiberglass. Carbon fiber is leaps and bounds lighter and stronger over Kevlar.

That boat is in not in somebodys garage, it is in the showroom at San Diego Performance Marine. The owner of the shop is neil. That boat is way sano , and hauls assssss. Good buy at that price if you want a boat that is proven to run those numbers. Not too hard to change to a 2 seater. Even if you bought a haul for 5k you could not build a boat with all of the trick shit on that on for the price. meirsch intake 1500 ...... jeff bennnet bottom 1500...... motor 15k+............pop off valve 5k+ ........1000 calgo steering....and on and on and on. great 80's colors in the showroom..........j/k

I wasnt confusing them, I was listing some different materials that can be used...."kevlar,carbon fiber, or whatever else"
Wether we are talking carbon fiber, kevlar or graphite, the same rules apply when you compare it to fiberglass.. Less material = stronger, lighter hull.

Whats the deal with the crack in the deck that "may need some attention" Send me some pics of the boat.
I agree that that boat looks very clean and is probably well worth the price. I would bet it would cost somewhere in the 45-50k range to build it again if not more. If I had that money though I know of a certian place craft that I would buy instead.

Well, I will send you some pictures, but the crack is so small, you will not notice it in a picture. I almost feel like my mentioning it isn't worth the hassle because it's so insignifigant, but I know some people on the boards who sold some things without mentioning all the flaws and got flamed to hell cause they didn't mention every single thing. I don't want to be one of them.
Anyway, if you are truly interested, I will shoot you some pictures Sunday after I clean it up.

Mine 19' Daytona is Kevlar and is around 400 pounds so 290 pounds sounds light to me but who am I?? Mine also had a few cracks in the gel due to being light but thats the price you pay. I saw that boat and its hot no doubt, but a one seater no thanks, I would need to do something with that.

"Brand New" 522cid Chevy No runs!
"Best ET with old 468 engine with 250hp nos system 8.02 @ 129 mph."
Raw Deal, not commenting on price. These engines have the same peak hp? I'm thinking...no. Maybe 250 to 300+ or more less hp with the 522? Note top speed quoted for a different engine. So why not quote a speed with the new 522?
Light layup not a seller for a lake boat I'd imagine.

does anyone remember the flexy flyers of the early 80s/ really light boats dont work/Bill Todd used a somewhat heavy Deaver hull and just kept winning/its in the design not the weight(within reason)
