View Full Version : What is a Hot Boat?

It would seem that EVERYONE has a different Idea of exactly what a ***boat is. I'm just curious as to what the "general consensus" would be in here.
Some people believe that it's 18-21, gobbs of horsepower, others believe that the owner has to work on it himself as opposed to having a shop do it for him, and even others believe that offshore falls under that category..
So what's your take on it?

"HOT" is in the eye of the beholder.

Just so long as it doesn't have a jet it has a fair chance of being a ***boat! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hmm, not to many responses in here. What, do you stern drive owners consider your boat NOT a hot boat? Or is there just no one in there to even really matter?

Well, I consider my boat to be a hot boat as it is from a custom builder. I think RD's is a hot boat, as I think your's, HBJet, and Froggy's are ***boats and RTJas. Now, RR's, well, that kind of goes without saying, it's a HOT BOAT! As is MrHavasuCat's DCB, I've seen that thing, and it IS a hot boat.
Again, I think it's all in the "eye of the beholder" and we all have differing opinions. Most, practially all, of the boat pictures I have seen in here meet MY definition of a hot boat.

HBjet Trying to poke around a bit for a response? OK how about my 21' Seebold stepped V pad boat with a small block Chevy. Alpha SS drive. Runs 93 on GPS and spanks most average jet boats.
Oh yea this is what we call the girls boat in our family. The boys boat is a blown alcohol injected Cougar v-drive tunnel.
Both are hot boats in anyones description

There is more to a hot boat than a big block blown engine, setting on a canoe, a hot boat is one you can be comfortable on for hours, a v bearth to take a nap in or room to move around in, a sink a frig. builtin coolers, tv dvd for the kiddies, twin engines the ability to go from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas in less than two hours thats my idea of a hot boat ( try that in a picklefork or river rat flat bottom canoe:

As long as we don't include bass boats
I'm happy, yes I know some are quite
fast.

N2boating, you have to realize ,the majority of the people on this forum prefers smaller boats ,hence the low number of posting on the offshore forum. Offshore Only [link] caters to the big boat crowd.I love big boats as well ,have been on many of them owned by friends [from a 38 Magnum to 72 foot yacht].I own a 24 spectra that I can still afford to run http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif with a single engine.A buddy has had a 42 foot custom offshore boat with triple 454's burning close to 100 gallon per hour WOT.I collected Powerboat, MotorBoat@ Sailing for a long time and enjoyed reading them. However ***boat started as Performance Boat originally ,catering to the small boat fraternity. This has changed ,hence the reason of grumbling by some http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gifDon't take it too serious ,***boat does a good job IMHO http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

As long as it is a custom boat, it is a ***boat IMHO ( maybe i am a Ho) http://free.***boat.net/ubb/tongue.gif I hate the text message junk http://free.***boat.net/ubb/tongue.gif Anything but a Bayliner or something comparable

In the 80's, I thought our Miller jet boat was all that, the 90's a Stoker tunnel, and now my Hot Boat is a Hallet 250. I'm w/ RR, a "Hot Boat" is whatever does it for you, and as long as it's a labor of love, and hurts just a little in the wallet...

Ft lauderdale to the Bahamas with the kiddies...as long as you leave them (kiddies) in the Bahamas.
The twin big block engines and v berth sound good.TV/ DVD are for home HUH?
Cooler with a decent wine or at least frosty Coor's...enough of those and a Bayliner with a 40 Horse Sears outboard will work.Don't forget the Epurb...blub blub blub..........

I consider both of them " Hot Boats " and like looking at them all except the mass produced bayliner type. but if that was all I could afford as long as your in the water with good friends/family having fun thats what it is really all about.

My definition of a "Hot Boat" is when you see it or more than likely hear it first, your first thought is "Wow...sweet ride".
