Those things work awesome. Even in heavy current, they will keep the tail end of the boat from sliding out and pointing down river.

I use these also and I think it sucks, doesn't hold at all looking to upgrade to the other spikes, everyone I talked to about the spikes say they work great and are easy to use :D

i had one of the cork screw kind for my rottweiler and he pulled it right out of the ground.. thats why we went with the other.. the cork screw ones can't hold a 130 lb rotty so it won't hold our boat.. ;)

I made my own after trying a spike type. Mine is made from a piece of fence tubing and a auger bit you can get at a boat store. Place the auger & drill hole through both the pipe and auger ( these are mede to fit inside pipe) and the bolt the assembly together. At the top section a eye bolt through the pipe and double nutted for something to tie onto. Then I took a small piece of tubing and fixed it to a top for the fence tube and keep it inside the pipe when not in use. Place in the sand and use small tube in eye to twist into sand bottom and tie on they work great. I have one 4 ft and one 5 ft.

I use a cheap alternative to a 100$ spike that can only easily be used in shallow water or a beach. Go to Wal Mart :yuk: and get their chene anchor for 26' and up boats. it is only 20$ then go to Sport Chalet or other sporting goods store and get a 4' bungee cord style dealio that has a loop on each end for 16$. The anchor is designed for a chain but I used mine for 4 years without one and had no problems. Got a cool looking rubber coated chain now 15$. The beauty of this setup is that when your boat rides the wake, the bungee stretches without pulling out your anchor. While at the Wal Mart:yuk: get a mushroom anchor with the 3 petals for the rear, to use at the sandbar so you can spend more time watching all the other guys boats swing around in the current. Just my opinion, but one I swear by.

We use the red slide anchor. It has no problem holding our 28' boat. Easy to use. We use one in the front & one in the back at the lower sandbar in Parker. All hooked up and ready to party in less than 5 minutes.
