monday the crew from Mcbrides R.V. service and repair (the company i work for) had to make a run out to Quartzite for the 2004 escape ( a shitload of old people who live out of their coaches!) to deliver the owner and his wife ! let me just say...there is a whole shitpot of old people in this world who dont have anything better to do that just sit in the middle of the mojave desert and bitch about one another!! they are expecting over 75,000 motorhomes to arrive just after the 1st...thats a whole lotta bitching goin' on!!! but what i was gettin at was that when we went through blythe, the river looked like a "mudhole"..."the LA river with alotta sand and trash in the middle of it"!!! This kinda concerns me with alot of people hanging out down there in the summer talkin about how nice it is,...have any of you seen the river look like this? do i really want to go this year?

low? im talkin chain link fences right near the I-10 bridge lumber all over the place... i guess all of the trash comes from up river... you know what they say..."shit rolls down hill"!
does this place ever get deep enough to run a jet safely? or are yopu constantly dodging sandbars (fences&tree trunks)?
ive heard that its beautiful down there but the waterline seems like it can't be too deep!

I have never pulled my boat down there, but the guy I bought it from was down there all the time. I have only boated there once and it was not bad, that trip.

You do have to watch the sand-bar's in the Blythe area they will move from week to week but you can spot them.Just cruise around before making any speed run's to find them first:D

Keep in mind its winter time.Every year they drop the water very very low since no one is out there.(I hear its really low this year)Its a perfect opportunity for people to build new launch ramps, docks, etc.
Ive been going to the blythe area for about 15 years now and i know the river pretty well, you will have no problems in the summer time if you have an idea what a shallow spot or sandbar looks like, you have to be able to read the water or you will probably end up hitting some logs or sandbars.I have friends with ski natiques and v-drives that run out there with no problems.
This part of the river is perfect for jets or low profile boats, its the last place on the river you dont have to deal with friggin cigartette boats.See you out there. :)

Me and the Mrs. travel to Central and Northern Arizona quite a bit. Being a river person I am always aware when we cross the bridge in Blythe and I can tell you I don't think I have ever seen a boat in that area, maybe pwc.

Talked to my brother in-law today, he said they are getting ready to do a bunch of work on that part of the river. They will almost stop the flow of water to nothing:eek:

Todd, you guys would love blythe, its a cool spot. I dont go that low on the river (10 freeway) since there is a dam about 6 or 7 miles north of blythe,we go up around 15 miles north of blythe,so I am not all that familiar with it.I hear it kinda sucks!! :D The lost lake, aha quin, water wheel areas are pretty cool, check it out this summer.:D
There are definatly some fast jets and a few flattys out there, probably about the same as big river area, for the most part we hang out at one of the three sandbars in our area and play some horseshoes, have a few coldies and b.s about boats. See you guys out there.

right on cs... the first time that i was south of parker was on labor day, with cyclone the HB's and the Hustler's! we spent the weekend out at Big river...to be quite honest with you,...i'll dont wanna go anywhere else! by bro raymon and i met some great people out that sat. pretty hard to find people who will offer you anything anymore! so ive decided to take the coach that my wife and myself came upon a few mo. ago (36 Fleetwood LMTD) and keep it there over the coarse of the summer, i could'nt believe how nice and calm the water was on a sat. mid day on labor day!!! im all about smooth water!
Like i said...if the lil red tug boat gets back together in time, we will be out there...for sure!! Todd
P.S. how is your project commin?
here is a pic from that weekend.

Cool pic todd. Man that makes me wish it was summer. Ive had enough of this winter crap.
I dont blame you for not wanting to go back to parker or wherever else, there is no way you can beat that part of the river, its really mellow. I saw HB and wrigtnow the other day, we talked about this summer and im gonna try and hook up with you guys when you come out to blythe or big river.
My second favorite place is the needles area, its fun on the off weekends out there and the casinos and night are a blast.
The project is coming along nicely. We should have the motor assembled and dynoed here shortly...Hard to say exactly when it will be river ready, but im not rushing anything. See ya.:)

Todd- Blythe is actually a great place to boat when the water is up. I boated there two summers ago and had a blast. Family atmosphere and the parks are nice to stay in. PM me when you get a chance as my motor is out and I want to get an idea what you would charge to gelcoat my bilge.

I dont think I know of dean gordon or his boat . Do you know which side of the diversion dam hes on? 7 miles north is right around that dam so he could be on either side.If hes below chances are slim i have seen it.
I know right where scottens place is, George from clay smith is out there too. Have not seen either of them out there much though, but I didnt get out much last summer. This summer will be a different story. The few times I did go I saw quite a few new faces and definatly some new fast boats. Its getting more and more popular every summer in that area. The more the better, just keep the ski natiques and big boats at home.
