Has anyone tried the TOTAL SEAL dry film.I read that it will help seat the rings but this stuff sounds kinda scary.

dry film doesnt sound like it would even work or it would gouge the cylinders

Total Seal used to recommend puting the rings in dry.
I would install them dry with only a little WD-40 on the cyl walls. A little Motor Mud (lubriplate) on the piston skirts.
Guess they were not making enough money recommending installing them dry. LOL

Probably a lot of truth to that. :rolleyes: The dry seal is some strange stuff...I used it on my 467 just to check it out. I've never had any trouble with the old method of doing it like Info...basically dry cyls, a little WD, wipe a finger of oil across the skirts, and that's it. IMO, the most important thing is getting the cyl's surgical room clean. I did like the way the pistons went in the cyl's with the dry seal, and things sounded very "nice" when turning the rotating assy. On the dyno, the motor made decent power right away. Vac pump numbers didn't change, indicating good ring seal immediately.
