Where can I find a cross reference chart that tells me what Fram oil filter replaces a Mercruiser oil filter?
Thanks

Better yet, could anyone let me know what make and model number oil filter they use on a Mercruiser V8 with the short cannister?

Try this...
Scroll down and you'll see a cross ref chart. You can get them from Rex Marine.

For what it is worth, my two cents would be to use the K&N filter shown in the prior post. I think it is the 3002. I used them exclusively on my twin 502's. Marine Engine oil pressure runs pretty high for a standard Fram or similar automotive oil filter. They will work, but I have had several shops tell me that once in a while they have split. K&N uses a thick steel wall. It is designed for race applications and it costs the same as the Mercruiser filter and they are available at Kragen or Auto Zone.
