Cs, The finned River Rat one is pretty cool! There is not a picture there, but I'm sure you could stop by there and take a look.:D
You could fab up a cover for the water pump for thrust button or ?
Superdave has one on his 572. I know Dave has got a pic somewhere.

This was a nice piece that I used. Just after I got it all together I saw SuperDaves on here. His is Damn nice and the water inlets combined would have been perfect. On the Cloyes you may have to do some minor filing near the water inlets depending on what type of Block mounts you are using.

The Photo is the small block cover. The Big Block cover is slightly different. I would recommend the one piece design. I think they have a split case option also.
Good Luck

A billet one would be over the top.

Thanks for all the replys!! I am going to need one that does not mount up where the water pump would bolt up since my motor mounts bolt up there. I think I like the IMCO cover so far.

Now that I look at it again that river rat one is pretty cool, Im gonna have to see one in person,we could always machine off those ears where they mount on the water pump holes.HMMM

The new River Rat ones are billet. They are nice but just didn't match the era of my boat. I got Mike himself to go back and dig through all his old stuff and he came walking out with a brandnew cast finned cover. I did have to remove some of the fins to clear the balancer.
I have a question about your motor plates. I've seen how Jack catches the water jackets on his front mounts. Are you coating or annodizing yours? If not it will really suck when you need to replace them after they get all eaten away due to the hard river water. We replaced Mike Fs water inlet plates this year. lol was not much left of them.

what up CS, no Jessel belt drive?

Ya well that Jesel is what I want, but its a high dollar set up, kinda outta my price range at this point. :frown: Theres a possibility I can pull it off and pick one up, have to wait and see. I just wanted to see what my options were for a cover, ill check with Kuhl and see whats up with those covers, they are pretty cool...SD,you mentioned they are billet now, have you seen one?
As far as those motor plates, yes im going to anno them. I plan on anodizing everything, but I want to wait till I have every piece of hardware finished both on the boat and engine so I can send it all out togethor so it all ends up being anodized at the same time and turn out exactly the same color,I also need to decide on a color..Im not sure if ill end up running it all summmer that way(bare alum.) or if I will do it right away. Do you think one summer will do any damage to the aluminum? Thanks again...CS19

Summit has the Edelbrock cover for $78.95 P/N EDL-4241 It's pretty nice and only covers the same area as a stamped steel cover.

Chris,
I've got one Like the Muldoons unit HB has running that I would let go real cheap as I won't be using it on the new motor. It needs a helicoil in one of the bottom holes that the pan bolts into, but other than that its fine. If you want, I'll drop it by Daves next time I'm down there so you can have a look at it.

Manley has a three piece aluminum unit that lets you change cam or timing without pulling the dampener or the pan. Flatlander has them for about 235. I run an Erson fixed idler gear drive that includes a two piece aluminum cover, cost me about 265 if memory serves.
