I am looking for some cam recommendations. This is basically what I will have when the work is done on the engine. The heads are gm 990 (hi perf) heads. they will have a stage I port job and intakes resized to 2.250 from 2.19. The block is now stock 454 and will be bored .030". I am going to be using JE pistons(SRP) low dome keeping the CR between 9.7-10.0. I have a ram manifold with 2 holley 600cfm carbs. The pump was rebuilt by MPD and has a b cut on the impellor. I think that should cover all the details. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

We need to know what you want from your boat? I also would also rethink using only 600cfm carbs on that aggressive of a motor. Ask MPD, I did . I switched from 600 to 750's and gained 500 rpms and power all over the range(holeshot, Midrange and top end). You cant think of the carbs on this motor as in a car,be cause I know that 600's are fine for a street car, but for a boat that will be under servier load and constant rpm's the 750's work great. Also do you want to go with a Roller Cam, Solid, Hydraulic???

I plan on going with either a hydraulic flat or roller cam not sure yet. I think the carbs are 660's not 600 and they have been tricked up by DNE. If they don't work well I can always change them later. My first concern is to get the motor back together without any problems. If possible I would like to see about 550-600 hp when finished.

Comp has some nice boat cams. Will list set up and rpm range.
I got my stick from Tim Spear at Pro-Boat service in Atlanta.
He did my pump set up and knows my boat. Good engine guy.
Only boat dealer I seen with a dyno.

Ok thats much better! 660's work really good! I would agree with using a Comp Cam. I run a Comp Solid Roller, works great. Look for some thing like this(I pulled these right from the COmp Cam online website):
MECHANICAL ROLLER-Jet boat with A impeller, flat bottom, hydro. River race.
Lash :.028 .030
RPM: 3500 to 6500
Specs: ((Adv Dur)285 295)
((Dur @ .050) 254 264 )
(lift .638 .622)
(Lobe Sep 108°)
look on there website. With a cam like the one above you should easily be @ 600Horsepower
