How is your hole shot from 32 or higher pitch props?? Any cavitation?

I use a lab 32 and it does cavitate when getting on plane. With a fairly short X dimension, it starts to cavitate just as the bow starts to drop back down. With a 1" spacer in the drive to lower the X, it cavitates after the bow comes down just as it starts to pick up speed. I didn't have this problem before I added the nose cone. R/R

Thats what I heard on higher pitch props. On my new boat, we are gonna try 28 or 30 pitch with the 1:36 gear ratio. This may improve hole shot and still maintain a high top end.

I have an extension box and a 32" only slips a little when the boat tips over. This is with an extremely high x. There was a very notiable difference between a 30 and a 32 in how the boat planed. The 32 was much more sluggish.

Yeah, my 34 and 32 both start slipping right about the time the bow of the boat lays down. If I'm not right on top of the throttle and don't back off just right I have to start all over. I'm going to have to regear so I can go to a lower pitch prop to stop it.

My 32 with 1.36 gears blows the prop out less than a 30 lab, but it bogs the motor bad... and the 1.50 gears with the 32 spun the prop about the same as the 30 lab with 1.36's... im thinkin its the nose cone and not prop choice

so do you think with an extension box you would be better off without the nose cone???
