Hello everyone! Although I have been "lurking" on here for awhile, this is my first post on this site. I really enjoy the banter between all of you and hope to meet up real soon. I know quite a few of you from being out in Havasu and the "big blue," especially you Lavey owners. My brother and I share ownership in our LaveyCraft 2750. Maybe you've seen us ... The reason I've decided to come out from the shadows is to bring you a sneak preview of LaveyCraft's new deck boat, "The Party Prowler." I am good friends with the Camires and with their permission, I present the first peek of the "Party Prowler." It is expected to be debuted at the L.A. Boat Show.
First, this is our baby ...

(Whew! My first post is in the books!!!)

Ray, That's a pretty good first post, you even got the pics in. :D That boat looks sweet, I read that Lavey may be working on a 31' cat? Do you have any info on that?
PS...I couldn't help noticing that the layout of the boat is very similar to Carrera's.

Thanks! I definitely had to do my homework before first posting. It took awhile but hopefully it'll get easier as I go. So far, they have no plans to build a larger cat ... yet. I believe their next project after the deck boat is a 32' V-bottom. A larger version of the 29' NuEra. Again, thanks for the welcome ...

What's up W.L.!!! Derek, had the boat out on Saturday with my brother, Robert and some friends and another Lavey, the 29' called "Cash Flow." We made a Cataliina (or Luau Larry's) Run. It was an awesome day and had a great time. Nick, I heard you were supposed to run on Sunday. Did you go ???

Thanks for putting up the photos! It's looking great. That boat's been a long time in the works. When my boat was in the mold they were in the early stages of tooling the plug. It's good to finally see the results, and it was worth the wait!!!

Hey Beer Hunter, thanks for the pics of our boat. Looks good in Avalon. Did you try any of Larry's special "Bong Waters?" Tasty lil' shooter.
Beach Gomer, I know Mike well and he's ballbuster by nature. Tell him Ray said I'll go head-to-head with him as soon as he's ready. I hope he'll be able to keep up! J/K. :) BTW, his future son-in-law is one of my good buddies. He and Mike's daughter were out in Catalina with us on Sat.
RD, I've always appreciated the way you like to stir the pot. Funny s**t! Thanks to all for the "welcomes."
The boys at Lavey are doing some really trick stuff to the deck boat. Just saw the progress earlier this morning. Make sure you check it out at the show!

the boat is a lavey 27 ft cat with the front cut and made to be a deck boat.looks like a carrera because they did the same thing.there is only so much you can do to a cat that is made into a deck boat.i would have a hard time seeing chris down at carrera looking through the front window at there deckboat to see how build laveys new deck boat.

The deck on the Carrera and the 257 are two completely seperate molds. The only thing that is the same is the bottom. The bottom does not limit the design of the deck with the exception of width and length. All of the features of the party cat are very different from the regular cat! They didn't simply chop off the nose and re-design.

We didn't try any of the Bong Waters, but that does sound good (I think) :D We need to hook-up sometime for a group run, maybe Nick can even get his boat out there :)

the bottom of the deck boat is totally different then the cat. its longer the deck boat is actually 28 ft. when you see it at the boat show, you can see the difference on the bottom the biggest difference you will see is the size of the center pod its huge. Also the deck was completely designed at lavey 2 yrs of pain stakin sanding adding things and taking things away. Boatnam said correctly im sure chris wouldnt go to aftershock to see how to build a lavey he would have look pass the ping pong tables to see a boat anyways. Whats up with the tables and work out equipment there, buy a boat get a game table or if your not interested in a boat let me show you this weider bench press...

Boatnam and LaveySabre575 are 100% right. Let me assure you that Chris Camire did NOT splash anything from the Carrera/Aftershock deck. It was a progression with heads put together to build this deck boat. One of the unsung heroes in this progression is Ron Camire, who put in a TON of hours into getting "the Prowler" to come to life. I think when you all see it up close and get a chance to walk through it, most similarities will disappear pretty quickly.
Anyway, what's up Frank! Haven't seen you in awhile. Thanks for the "shout out." :)
Beer Hunter and Nick ... let me know when your next run is. I'm always up for the salt. If our boat is in town, that is.
And I think that the Beach Gomer is a little closer to me than I first suspected. Don B. and his stereo ... God Bless him!

Nobody said they splashed anything. I've never seen anybody splash a top deck yet the would be pretty stupid. When I first saw the picture I thought the same thing as 6 dollar boat because I saw my boat in the same state and it looks alot alike. If you don't think they look close then maybe I blind.

To say there is only so much you can do with a top deck on a party deck, I would disagree. If you look at all the deck boats out there none of them look a like and they all have different seating layouts.
There seems to be alot of Carrera/Aftershock bashing going on and I wonder why. Is there some under lying reason?
The work out equipment does seem strange but not that strange if you know the facts and another company of the owner of West Coast tooling. A ping pong table is like having a basketball hoop at the shop, for a little playtime.
I think Lavey builds a nice boat and the construction has came a long way since Labor Day 1995........

I thought the Lavey and Aftershock did too?
They all have the forward benches, and the same driver passenger layout. They all have the Head in the same spot. I thought they all had the L shape bench. But I could be wrong. I've only seen Lavey's plug in person.

BTW, I'm not saying anyone copied anyone else. I just feel that there's only so much you could do with a deck layout where the dash and driver/passenger area is much the same as a closed deck cat. I also think it looks much more sleek that way.

I don't disagree that there is so much you can do with the space. But that magic doesn't look anything like the Carrera. As RD said the Carrera has a drivers seat and the passenger is a L shape bench and that looks like what Lavey is doing also. The Magic and the New Top Cat 2 has buckets for driver and passenger. I just thought it looked alot alike and that's really it. I thought lLavey would of did 2 buckets since that seems to be the trend these days.

Rivertoys
01-14-2004, 10:09 AM
My Mistake! I though Lavey and others, all had two buckets, and an L shaped bench behind the passenger. Lavey is not doing a bucket for the passenger? Not sure I like that.......I'll have to see it. I also thought that your main thing was the simularity from the windshield forward, since that't the photo you showed.

In this picture you can see on the left it will be a bench seat for passenger and wraps around to drivers that looks like it will be a bucket.
This not a great picture showing the wrap around in the Carrera.

I can't wait to see it at boat show, I'm sure they will have lots of things different than the picture shows.
