Here's some pics. of my project. #10 fittings and lines required new pickups in fuel tanks, through selector valve to pump. #8 to carb. Mounted carb. sideways to solve throttle linkage clearance to hatch and it looks better since the 3300 is kind of "skinny". Will be installing Crane HI-6M this weekend.
Comments welcome..The good, the bad and the ugly.

Looks good, how is the install going. I want to do one on my 500EFI. Is that the boat from San Bernardino. If so I looked at it, nice. I think it had under 100 hrs or so. Who did you buy the Whipple from.
Thanks, Mike

Thanks Mike, yep it's from San Berdu... had 62 hrs. showing but who knows? paid 32,400 for it. Was somewhat rough condition when purchased but getting everything sorted out. Infomaniac is the man to talk to for Whipple prices! The EFI kit is clean setup! And a better performer as well.

I though that was it. The factory seals were still there on the motor. Did you pull the heads. How many hours did you put on it last year. Are you doing the install. A friend has a 22 with a 300 Envn. The gel had a few scraches I though would buff out. It was well worth the money. Do you come down to Havasu in the summer. I would like to check it out again.
Thanks, Mike

Boat was buffed out when I looked at it. Put 20 hrs. on so far, but have removed hourmeter to make room for fuel pressure gauge.
Yeah, the wire seals were on the motor and it was very clean so I believe the hrs. were correct. Boat was a repo. and had some STUPID probs. Some dork**** had mounted stereo amps and speakers and drilled through the bottom of the hull. He actually screwed the boat to the stringer! Must have been a bitch to back off the trailer the first time!! Spent $400 to fix hull. They also cut ANOTHER hole in the dash so there are two radio cutouts. Schucks quality aux. battery tray/wiring had to go too. Did a compression test all good so not going to pull heads yet. Will do valve springs later this year. Right now just trying to complete project as money allows. I have done everthing except fuel lines and throttle linkage. No plans for Havasu, long ways for me. Gotta go get a stainless plate fabricated for the coil so later, Mike.

Out of curiosity, why did you have to go to a -10 inlet line? I run 2 750's on a B&M 420 with an electric pump and -8 and it holds 7 pounds of pressure all the way to 6000 rpm. Is the -10 what Whipple recommends?

Couple of reasons. I modified the seawater fuel pump with a Carter valve assembly which is around 130gph. Inlet on pump was #10 and fuel lines are around 11' long from each tank. Want this pump to operate at it's design limits. Had to install new tank pickups anyway so went #10 all the way. Fuel pressure does not necessarily mean adequate volume, although sounds like you are O.K. I did not run a regulator since this pump will self regulate. And last but not least, I HATE having to go back in and buy all new parts because I scrimped on something! Did that too many times on old boat.

What kind of speeds are you getting out of your Advantage and with what displacement?

Hey what speeds and cu. in. you running with your Advantage? Those 420's make some decent power for the money.

The motor is a 509 with GM square port heads. (more detail at my web site) Best speed so far is 114.5 mph @ 6000 rpm. I broke the drive, it's in the shop now. When I get it back I'll finish testing a 31 Hydromotive 4-blade.

Those are good numbers! I hope mine will be 110mph at least.
Is your hull pretty stable at that speed? Nice website BTW.

Yeah, it's OK at that speed as long as the water is reasonably smooth. I wouldn't go tear assing through three foot rollers at that speed ;) I'm always looking for more boat pic's for the Gallery, got any good ones of your boat:D

Wait until interior is back in and I'll post some pics. at speed.
That Nova video is BAD ASS!! Can't believe the guy doesn't lift off the throttle!

Sucks about the drive, what ratio was that, 1:36? My old prop was a 28 Hydromotive and worked excellent for the stock motor. I have read the Hydro. props have more stern lift than the Bravo 1's ? I'm hoping to find a labbed 30 B-1 for XR shaft. Leaving for the LA boat show Wed., and taking my upper outdrive case. Warlock25 is going to meet me there and take it back to Havasu with him. Max machine worx is going from 1:36 to 1:26 ratio with all their upgrades and a 1" shorter Merc. sportmaster gearcase with low water pickup... I want to be able to launch hard! Gotta get the jump to get the smooth water at poker runs!!! Once everthing is dialed in I'll look at 100 shot nitrous since I watched several boats use it with success at '03 Shasta cat attack.

Sounds like you're doing the drive right! You're correct on the Hydromotive having more stern lift, and needs more trim than a Bravo. The only time I got to try the prop it was way rough, white caps and all. I made 2 mid 90's runs but it was only trimmed where the Bravo typically would be. The ride was getting "questionable" if I wanted to continue an earthly presence :D So I decided on just one more pass, again, couldn't safely air her out, at 98.4 mph the gear broke :eek!: Zinged the motor briefly and then we settled down to a safe yet depressing stop!
Next rest session, I'll wait for a little better water conditions and try not to be so damn impatient. (yeah, right)

That Shasta deal looked pretty cool, we were thinking about towing up there for it next summer if they do it again. Wasn't that the 4th of July?

Last year it was the weekend after labor day. This year the date has not been set yet, have heard early and late in summer. Check the thread in hot spots west(Northern CA. / OR bench racing) Your boat would be a good race for my friends 23' Cougar.

I'll keep an eye out for the date. 23 Cougar? hmmmmmmm :)

23 Cougar- Stroker 496 w/ 420, dual 950's 12 lbs. boost. Hit rev limiter at 6200 w/labbed 28- 109 gps. Motor is apart now, needs block replaced.
