990's would be fine, but I wouldn't mind something with a closed or semi closed chamber. Would really like to stumble on to some fresh ones with decent valves and springs...

I have a set of bare 4026 open chambers or a set of 4291 complete that need a little work. I'll let either pair go pretty cheap.

What kind of work do the 291's need? 291's are closed port, rectangulars, right?

The 291's are rec. port with a smaller chamber off a 427. Some of the valves are getting a little sunk in the seat (shouldn't get ground agian)Springs are set up for a .620 lift solid cam. They came off a motor that was running but cracked the block.
Make me a offer, I'd love to get rid of them. They wont work on my new boats motor.

The 291's are a closed chamber head(bathtub style) with 108cc chambers, 990's are full open chamber heads with 122cc chambers, both take different pistons!..I would recommend the 990's, unless you already have closed chamber pistons!..

Just curious Disco, what type of cam are you running? 900's are not that heavy. they are only set at 230# at the seat at 1.9 and will lessen with a 2.0
