i am looking into putting external water pickups on a DCB 26 twin 300 to raise OBs two notches. The pickups are to be recessed 1/8 to 1/4 inch in the hull, tierdropped, and then re-gelled.
I talked to a rep from Eliminator at the boat show and was told the external pickups by themselves would slow the boat 1-2mph!
Said i may not see an increase at all with the motors lifted.
Does anyone have any unbiased first hand knowledge.
Thanx in advance

How high are your motors right now, I have played with a few of these rigs and they all ran fine at one and a half too two inches up. I never ran into any problems running out of water. On the other hand I have installed thru hull pick-ups on a few customers boats and never got negitive feed back either.

they are on the bottom notch which puts the tip of the nose cone level with the bottom of the hull.
did you notice any gains on the setups you worked with?
advantages/disadvantages?

Advantages where stronger midrange excelleration and 3-4 mph on top end. Down falls where very slow hole shot and falling off plane at slower speeds 30-35mph.
