Looking for a new trailer manufacturer. I have a single axle and would like to go to a double if possible. I have a 18' avenger with a 455 Olds.
Thanks, Steve

Steve- Why the double axel? Just wondering. Is your trailer beat?

I guess it really does not matter if you have a singe or a dub. but a dub. does really look better.just my own peference.

Tandem looks better and my trailer has seen betterdays thats for sure. I could probably fix it but just curious what kind of cash I would need to shell out for a new one.

Double looks better but if one axle will handle it, I'd stay with it. Two axle trailers are very difficult to move around by hand. My single axle I can manuever by myself when its unhooked. My twin axle.....forget about it, have to hook the truck up again. It may be a function of weight but there sure is a lot of back breaking friction between the 4 tires whenever I try to move my tandem around w/o the truck-Aluminum Squirt

Tandem's sure tow better. They stay straight behind the truck.
And if you ever get a flat or loose a wheel bearing with a single axle you will be hating it.

You can chain up an axle and peg leg it home or to a shop if you have a tandem. I was kind of suprised when I saw people posts about single. If at all possible I try and stay away from single axel trailers. Tandems tow way better too.

i'm kicking around the idea of selling my trailer. It's a double axle that i had powdercoated, re-wired, new axles, new hubs, new tires and chrome wheels, new carpeted bunks. If anyone is interested i'll take $1,200 bucks for it.

Superdave and Bense got a point about the extra axle fpr reliability, towing, etc. I wasn't thinking about that. My single is under a 1200 lb white water boat so there isn't much stress on it-Aluminum Squirt
