Are you old enough to remember him? I am :frown:
Bob Keeshan, known to generations of children as TV personality Captain Kangaroo, has died at 76.
The "Captain Kangaroo" show began its 30-year run in 1955. Characters included the Captain himself and pals Mister Green Jeans, Mister Moose and Bunny Rabbit. A favorite sketch involved Mister Moose dropping ping-pong balls on the Captain's head.
According to the Internet Movie Database, "Captain Kangaroo" won six Emmys and three Peabody Awards.
Before portraying the Captain, Keeshan played sidekick Clarabell the Clown on the "Howdy Doody" Show.
Keeshan was the author of numerous books, including "Growing Up Happy: Captain Kangaroo Tells Yesterday's Children How To Nurture Their Own" and "Good Morning Captain: 50 Wonderful Years With Bob Keeshan: TV's Captain Kangaroo."

He was old when I was watching it. Of course when you are ten everyone over 20 is old.
Another person that kids grew up with that never had any bad press. All the good ones have to leave sometime I guess.

Statler Brothers - Flowers on the Wall
Classic.
I'm not familiar with the show but it's always a dark moment when an icon from someone's childhood passes.

Godspeed "Captain"! Captain Kangaroo was a staple in my early, formative years. It's just too bad that his influence didn't take a bigger hold on me!:p
Any of you Arizonans remember a show called "The Wallace and Ladmo Show"? We used to pick it up on UHF out in Desert Center in the mid to late '60s. Now that was a hilarious show. Not as much "teaching" as Captain Kangaroo; but the entertainment level was waaaaay up there! Well; for a kid anyways!:)
