Anyone know the limits of the Volvo DP? I've got a 21' Mirage Trovare with the 350 mag with the DP. And of course I looking for more speed. I've thought about a 383 stroker with would bring great torque and power through the whole range, but didn't know if it would be too much for the DP, or also concidering a M1 Procharger witch would bring good top end and be a little easier on the outdrive. Any comments are knowledge of the Volvo DP limits?

WB-
I have a DP and am running 390hp. I have toyed with the idea of increasing the HP, so I asked a couple of high performance boat shops if it could handle another 50-75 hp. Both shops told me that it would not be a problem for the drive. That is my research findings.

I'm interested in this also. I've considered the same Hop-Up: Stroke to '383', Right cam, intake etc. Have one in my 80' vette and produces 390 HP 410 FtLbs Torque. Should be the Bomb with right set of props. Maybe even a little blower to push 450 if drive will hang.

Thanks guys I appreciate your input and it sounds like we're all thinking along the same lines. I've been told through the grape vine that the DP is really tough, but just wanted to reinforce my findings. I'm leaning twords a 425 HP roller stroker.
Also RP what props are you running? I've got a set of C7's with the outside prop cupped wich helped with more top end with out sacrificing the bottom end. I didn't know with that much horse power if you went up to C8's?

Water bandit,
I'm running F8's on a 2600# boat behind the Volvo 5.7Gsi.
They are Stainless Props which have been thinned at root and cupped. So far 67 MPH on GPS @ 5000 RPM.
A little side note. Keep a close eye on drive shaft bellows, Got a hole in mine, rusted drive shaft bearings and "U-joints". Cost to fix $1200.00.
