anywhere you can get to it
make sure you can get something under it to catch spills
I have a bracket mounted to the stringer, just make sure it is strong enough to handle rough water.

here is a pic of mine. Even though it is a Ford I got the GM filter holders so I could use the 2qt GM filters. that adds 4 qts to your oil capacity and as said earlier mount them where you can get a rag under them and don't mount them upside down:eek:
I personally run valvoline racing 40wt. used to run castrol syntec but now that it takes 13qts to fill er up the 40wt is cheaper.
I used hydraulic hoses for the oil lines from engine to relocater.
Oreilly makes them up with the crimped ends. be warned they aren't cheap but last forever.
Good luck!!!

Here's where I put mine. A coffee can will slip in under it to catch filter and oil. Works good.http://files.triton.net/old1/engfrnt1.jpg

Just curious why it shouldn't be mounted upside down. Mines always been upside down. I haven't had a problem with drain back. Its up high enough that when you want to change it you can either unbolt it quick and dump it in a pan or pop a hole in the top. THEN it will drain back and there is very little mess. Anyone have problems running one upside down.
Should I relocate my relocated filter?

I guess I should have worded that different:( It is my preference to mount them right side up to avoid a mess. It sounds like alot of trouble to unbolt it to change the filter and even if it is drained back you still are gonna have to wipe some oil. With my setup a rag underneath and a filter wrench it's done in a matter of 5 minutes. Also it would seem very hard to pre-fill the filter before installation if it is upside down. this is something I practice on every vehicle I own. I guess it boils down to personal preference. There is nothing wrong with your setup although I wouln't run a FRAM filter but that's just another preference of mine.
No offense intended!!!

I just unscrew mone with a 1 qt zip-lock bag around it all the mess goes into the bag. zip it and throw the whole thing away. Clean no muss no fuss. That way I can manuver the filter to get it out of the tight place where it is.

if you are throwing your oil and filter in the garbage you are breaking the law. Not coming down on you by any means just thought you should know you could get slapped with a healthy fine if caught throwing away oil, paint, propane bottles, etc.

Here's how I mounted mine. Combined with the oil coloer and lines, I have about an extra 2-3quarts. Had a buddy machine a piece of aluminum that I could mount to the head.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are those elbows and white lines for which go into and out of the oil pan? Are they for an in-pan oil cooler or something?
